roy knows this... and im telling you... his motivation will be THROUGH the ROOF... your about to witness the fastest handed 40yr old youve ever seen in your life... roy will want it more than ANYTHING.. and when you get someone like him motivated... its gonna be problems

some people will doubt it.. they will deny it.. the ywill call him a shell... im telling you... im just telling you... watch how he comes into this fight...

100000 percent agree with you i could of not of said it better. im pulling for roy all the way. top 5 atg if he wins for sure at 168

You mean the Split decision Calzaghe/Hopkins fight? The judge who scored it for Hopkins was an idiot, that's all, or bought by Hopkins/Golden Boy. The other two scored it by a very comfortable margin for Calzaghe. I don't care how many times you you watch the fight, Hopkins' workrate was virtually non-existant and nowhere near enough to give him a win. He threw a few nice right hands, but you can't win a fight with less than a dozen punches, and all the grabbing, dirty fighting and faking injury to get a breather just wiped those out anyway, in my opinion.

I love Roy. As much as I wish I had the confidence of some of the other Roy fans on here I can't muster it up. I get all the Roy will counter effectively stuff but didn't Bernard? Problem for Bernard is he couldn't do enough of it and I doubt whether Roy could either at this stage of his career. He has looked good in patches in his last 3 but I just don't see the activity level there that he would need to beat Calzaghe. I hope I'm wrong and I'm sure that by fight night I will be 100% confident of a Roy win.

take bernards performance... add combinations (not as much as prime, but more than bernard), add hand speed, add power... and add stamina... roy DOES have more stamina than bernard at both of their stages... and its a much closer fight to me... add angles, and a new defense.

Even though Bernard didn't throw as much as Roy will, do you think Roy can spoil and frustrate Calzaghe as well as Hopkins did? That is what really limited Joe's effectiveness. Roy has never really needed to spoil throughout his career so he isn't really that effective at it. Without these skills I think limiting Calzaghe's workrate in the fashion that Hopkins managed will be more difficult for Roy, effectively nullifying the advantage he will obtain from throwing additional combinations.

Roy doesnt spoil on purpose... he doesnt "try" to spoil you... he just does... he spoils you by beating you to the punch, hitting you at angles youve never been hit from before...

You come in and throw a little flurry, all the sudden you get a straight right to the face faster than youve ever been hit before.... your work rate starts to slow down... joe might have a great chin.. but one can only take so many straight right hands to the face... especially when you dont always see them coming... all the sudden... your not throwing as many punches as you used too..

Joe has a great work rate... why? because hes always been faster than his opponents... he can come in, throw his hands... and get out.. and beat u all night to the punch... with roy... even this roy... the battlefield is a little more levelled...
