The ageing Hopkins excuse **** is so old and lame it's ridiculous, seriously. Hopkins best weapons against Calzaghe were his super ring intelligence, defence, and counter punching. These are what made it a close fight.

Bernard has improved and held these attributes the most, post 40, where some of his biggest wins have also occurred, so he's not old and washed up, he was justifiably LHW no. 1 and lost.

A prime Hops did not have those 3 attributes, weapons so well defined, so he'd have troubled Joe less. There'd have been less of a style clash, Joe would have beaten him more easily. This is very reasonable, and considers the factors a lot better than the lame old excuse which is easily proven largely an excuse.

The only one whom has really looked any better beating Hopkins was RJJ, and again, that was years ago when Hopkins ring intelligence, defence, and countering weren't so good to ruin the style and rhythm of someone like Roy or Joe.

I've had Joe Calzaghe as the #1 P4P fighter for awhile now and his impressive victory over Hopkins cements it. Floyd is way too inactive to be ranked #1.

The fight was what I thought it would be and it did not make me think any otherwise of Joe Calzaghe.

Joe is a top p4p fighter but if it's his victory over Hopkins that makes you people rank him as the number 1 p4p fighter then you have sadly missed out on a great career.

It's a good win on paper, having Hopkins' name on your resume can never hurt but it was not impressive. Not impressive at all and Calzaghe would agree.

"I'm happy that I won, but I'm not happy with my performance."
        -Joe's own words

His lackluster performance against Hopkins was probably his worst. I would rate the Eubank, Kessler and Lacy performances highly above it.

Hopkins looked awful and he made a wise decision to retire (if he keeps to it which I doubt). He just doesn't have it anymore, this was quite obvious to me during the fight and even before it. He could not unload punches even when he wanted to, a mark of a shot fighter.

Nobody would pick 43 year old to beat Maywheather!
            Pickled Hopkins sounds tasty.

No disrespect my man, but where do you pull your information from!!? Manfredo isn't even important. Joe didn't even want to fight him. I think it was Steve Bunce who talked to Joe and he said he was bored and unmotivated for the Manfredo fight, he just basically took it for the payday and the name recognition in the USA.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion...that being said I find it very hard to agree with you. As much as I would like to attack you on a personal level for making that ignorant statement, I will refrain because I just realized you're from the UK and can't help it. I'm sorry for your unfortunate situation.

He has earned the number one p4p spot because he defeated a legend who was p4p number 4 previous to their fight sure he was old but many here on boxing scene were picking bhop to expose calzaghe
But once against good prevails and the racist hopkins got what he deserved and was outboxed in every round except the first
Calzaghe landed twice the punches that hopkins did and thats why this victory is so important he dominated hopkins like no one else ever has
For dominating a p4p boxer and being 45-0 there is no doubt in my mind Calzaghe is the true p4p king

Jesus this place is full of idots..Calzaghe skills and accomplishments will NEVER rival Mayweathers.

You've also had Ricky Hatton as P4P#4 for a long time too.....

People say floyd has been way to inactive.... WTF WAIT FOR THE MAN TO BE INACTIVE FIRST. He just fought a 4 months ago and 7months before that. Make the argument a year from now that he is to inactive. Anyway how is Joe Calzaghe p4p #1 just because he cleared out the 2nd easiest division in boxing? And based on that performance. Your a fan of his... i understand that. But give your man a little respect and hold him to higher standards.

Isn't Mayweather retired though? I hear he still puts on exhibitions with other retired fighters once a year though. P4P should be for active fighters, otherwise it's an even more worthless list that it already is.
