Calzaghe is old. He hasn't been in any wars or took many heavy punches, and so he's in better shape than most 36 year old boxers, but even considering that the fact is that his best years are behind him. If he had beaten the big names earlier in his career then I would want him to retire now. As it is he's trying to make up for lost time, but 4 fights is too much.
Tarver was outclassed by Hopkins and is not the best at 175.
I know you are a Mundine fan but that fight isn't going to happen. Calzaghe is looking for money and recognition. A brit vs an American or an Australian vs an American might interest HBO, but a Brit vs an Australian wouldn't interest many Americans. At least not enough to earn Calzaghe the sort of money that he would get from one of the other possible opponents.
Pavlik and Calzaghe have talked about one another, but neither seems to be that big on the fight. Abraham-Pavlik seems to be in the works for later in the year.
Which just leaves Roy Jones, which seems to be the fight that is going to happen. I'd prefer Pavlik(a victory that would mean more than beating an old Roy Jones) but it doesn't seem like it'll happen.
