Calzaghe will be ruining his Legacy!

If he fights Roy Jones and then retires? He will always be remembered as a guy who never fought anyone during his title reign and then beat Hopkins and Jones when they where in there 40's and shot. He will never be taken seriously if this is the case.

He's already looked at as a guy who hid most of his career. Might as well beat these guys now when they're old just to show he fought them even if it was 5-6 years too late.

I'd like to see him finish his career with a fight against Pavlik. A win against such a young and dangerous opponent would be a fitting end to his career and should silence any last remaining doubters.

I can't see how people say he hid, he wanted Hopkins years ago, and Jones.

It's not his fault the fights couldn't get made at a better time, he did all he could. In fact they had a deal nearly completed for Hopkins Vs Calzaghe a few years back and at the last moment Hopkins pulled out, putting the money up.

I do agree that fighting Jones wouldn't be a great career finisher. On paper it would be, but in reality it wouldn't

He tried to get Hopkins and Jones years and years ago but they did not want to fight him.

Now he is 36 and sadly looking well past his best they want to fight him.

I will admit, however, that despite the fact that he has been a World Champion for well over a decade now his resumé is only okay, with the likes of Kessler, Eubank, Hopkins, Mitchell, Reid and Lacy being among the best he has defeated.

Calzaghe has already gone on paper saying he wants roy jones then kelly pavlik at 167 as his last fights. Who the **** is there left for him to fight other than that. Taylor? Perrrlease. Tarver? oh god no

Although after his performance against B-hop i can see calzag having a tough time against Roy

I was thinking this myself, but I'm undecided yet.

Most of Calzaghes trouble with Hopkins came at the hands of the hugging and clinching. I can't see Jones going for that approach.

He could have trouble with him, but in a completely different way.

Actually, he should be remembered as the guy who owned 168, beat the best SMW's in the world for years and years, then moved up and beat the best LHW in his first fight at 175 and first fight in the US. Age is irrelevant. Hopkins was the Ring Champ, he earned it, and Calzaghe earned his victory over Hopkins.

Everyone knew it would be ugly and close, because it was Hopkins- that's all he knows. If a fight is close, Hopkins usually tries to make it dirty, ugly and doesn't try to win so much as "not lose," so he can save face and have it go to a decision that he can claim was wrong.

I agree, but £20 million has been touted as his purse. Id probably fight (albeit like a girl) Jones for that kinda money.
I think Pavlik would be good not sure ow much of a challenge it wold be, maybe if he won and then pavlik went on to be a long reigning great it would significantly improve his legacy.
