Freddie Roach "Bernard Hopkins Should Retire"

Trainer Freddie Roach, who worked the corner of Bernard Hopkins last Saturday, feels the Philadelphia fighter should retire before he gets hurt. Hopkins lost a split-decision verdict to Joe Calzaghe, but has a possible rematch on the table with Felix Trinidad. Promoter Don King recently contacted Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer to discuss a Hopkins-Trinidad rematch. [details]

He has nevered suffered much punishment...so I think he could still fight at a high level without worrying about his health. Roach retired at 27 because he use to get his ass beat. Remember Roger Mayweather on 24/7 "Freddie Roach know...I use to whoop his ass!" LMAO

I agree, B-HOP should retire. He has nothing left to prove. He gave a spirited effort against Calzaghe (many thought he won, including myself, espn.com, the assossiated press) and should retire on a high note, being he's never been beaten up in the ring. Quite honestly ive never seen bernards face look brused and battered after a fight.

Hopkins has had a great career! It's the perfect time to retire. He was showing the signs of a shot fighter and still put Calzaghe on the canvas. Calzaghe will never be half the fighter Bernard was. That fight was a great way to get out considering how other great fighters careers have ended. Time to be an ambassador for the sport Bernard, It's a young man's game.
