I don't get it why he didn't try to land uppercuts on Hopkins when he rushed in with the head, or why he didn't throw a few shots with more power. As I said, I can only put it down to hand problems. He also waited too long, but I was glad to see he managed to cut off the ring somewhat, rather than aimlessly following Hopkins around.
Yeah, terrible performance, but made nice adjustments similar to the Kessler fight, only it looked much worse. I guess credit goes to Hopkins for possessing such a difficult style. I wouldn't want to fight him.Comment

I don't think it was a terrible performance because if it was, Hopkins would have taken advantage of it all night. Calzaghe didn't square his feet up, he didn't get off balance too much, his punches were straighter, he used better head movement, used a good jab down the stretch. I wouldn't call that terrible.I don't get it why he didn't try to land uppercuts on Hopkins when he rushed in with the head, or why he didn't throw a few shots with more power. The uppercuts were what Calzaghe should have done more of, I agree. He should have taken a step back when Hopkins lunged forward with his right hand and shot a counter uppercut right back at Hopkins. But apart from that, I thought it was an OK performance.Last edited by Silencers; 04-20-2008, 11:57 PM.Comment

both imo.
hopkins in spite of being old prove that he is one of the most difficult fighters to handle, and very difficult to catch. a true legend.
and for calzaghe for being his first fight on america, against a fighter that makes you look bad, and being able to overcome the down on the first round and also for making the adjustments and loosening himself through the fight.
both fighters have all my respect...Comment
