Who deserves more credit after Saturday night?

Calzaghe got the decision, but he put together a lackluster performance mainly due to Hopkins not letting him fight his fight. Hopkins, at 43 and being the underdog, executed a gameplan and could've gotten the nod. Keep in mind, Hopkins is 43.

    Calzaghe.

I think it shows how good Calzaghe is that he was getting beat up by the southpaw killer (counter-straight right hand). After about a minute into the fight, I thought for sure that it was over (and I'm not the guy who usually waves fights off in the first round), but Joe was getting nailed with straight right counters again and again in the first round.

But as he always does, Joe Calzahge adapts and does whatever he needs to in order to turn the fight into something that he has the advantage in. That is what impressed me in his win over Mikkel Kessler, and now that is what impressed me last night in his win over Bernard Hopkins.

      Calzaghe.

He made adjustments when he was losing the fight, he showed some technical improvements as well. I didn't see what was so lackluster in his performance.

That's not as easy a question as it would usually be. But ultimately you have to choose the winner.

Cal needed a Lacy type win or stoppage to equalize the youth advantage he had , we are not talking Winky and Taylor here both elite , but they are not greats the way Cal is looked and hyped by his UK fans , on the contrary I believe Cal was shown to be in the same class as Winky and Taylor , an elite fighter but not the level where people are trying to place him .

            Who deserves more credit?

Ummm, the guy who tried to make a fight, the guy who didn't hold for 12 rounds, the guy who won!

I'm probably one of the biggest Calzaghe supporters here but the performance last night was awful. He did what he needed to do to win, but looked bad doing it. I do agree though, that he was able to make the right adjustments. Very few people are gonna look good against Hopkins though.

I honestly didn't see what was so awful about it, sure he could've done a few more things to make himself more effective but as you said, it's very hard to look good against Hopkins.
