Also, the force of the punch or if the punch is correctly turned over, should be taken into account. The following are the criteria which are used to score rounds under the ABC rules.

    1. Clean and effective punching (first and most important criteria)

The following are used if the winner of a round cannot be deterimed after using the above criteria:

    2. Effective aggressiveness (while creating opportunities to score and land punches)
    3. Ring Generalship (controlling the ring, cutting off the ring)
    4. Defense (self explanitory)

Watch the fight again, and score each round based on the above criteria, keeping in mind, Clean and Effective Punching.

There's no question Hopkins landed virtually any and all of the actual scoring punches. No question. This is a stituation for private motivations, nationalism and ******ity. Boxing IQ and lack thereof is on full display.

Hopkins clinching and throwing one punch at a time, and using his head as a weapon lots of time. Then faking he was hurt by a lowblow that looked like the lightest *****ish punch I've ever seen in boxing*no offense to joe*, but that punch looked weak maybe he realized where he was throwing so he tried to take power off of it. But that just to me showed that Calzaghes body work was getting to Hopkins that he felt the need to pull cheating tricks like that during the fight.

Calzaghe landed many clean punches and outside of the "flash kd" they had about the same effect as Hopkins' punches had; not much outside of the two "lowblows" that had tears streaming. Unless they've changed cups since I boxed, your balls are protected pretty damn good from even the hardest of punches.

Calzaghe won about as convincingly as you can against a guy that holds constantly, leads with his head, and only looks to counter. Joe was never that big of a puncher and with bad hands and moving up in weight that obviously didn't improve. Hopkins also probably weight 195 at fight time while Joe was only 181. Upon my initial viewing, I only gave Hopkins 1-3 with the kd. Maybe 10.

Joe got the decision, Hopkins beat himself the fans and Joe, out of a potentially good fight, the fight was there for Hopkins to win but Honestly I dont think his body will allow him to perform at the level he is use to being able to perform at, Hopkins was looking only for the right hand and once that wasnt working he began to look to cortez for help.
you cant blame Joe for the fight not being as good as it could have been, Joe showed up to fight, it was Hopkins who had little or no interest in taking the risk

Totally agree. R4 onwards Hopkins couldn't make it his fight at all really anymore, Joe was progessively effective in making it his fight, by not getting hurt, making the pace higher so Hopkins tired, he knocked a high pct confusing Hopkins, leaving him tired and holding.

Addison, I've seen two re-plays of the fight. You must have lost a lot of money on this fight or something. I've always believed Hopkins is one of the best I've ever seen. But, last night he got beat. Period. Calzaghe was better in almost every category except power.

Furthermore, the second time Hopkins went down from a supposed low blow, looked to me more like a knock down from a Calzaghe body shot.

I know Bernard's pre-fight comments were designed to sell the fight, so I don't care about that. But, anyway I look at the fight, Bernard got beat and I daresay he was beat in a relatively easy fashion. Except for the flash knockdown in round 1, this was just another typical Calzaghe win. His style looks peculiar, but how many ambidextrous fighters have you ever seen before? Hopkins couldn't handle Calzaghe last night.
