I honestly don't think J.C can gain too much for his legacy by fighting a Jones Jr pensioner. Sure it will sell 80K tickets but i'd rather see him in there with someone young and hungry
i thought roy jones is younger than hopkins. the pavlik fight would be good too but i dont see calzaghe going back down in weight so soon to face pavlik. that affects a fighters body so i dont know if he would want to do that. as far as fighting somebody because of their name, why not? fighters do it all the time. but i would like to see him fight pavlik, just not for his next fight

Normally I'd rather see the younger guys fight, but in this case I'd rather see Joe fight RJ. Calzaghe is looking to put a cap on his career, and a fight with Jones would seem to complete it. Pavlik is just emerging as the middleweight champion, and I don't see the benefit of moving him up to fight a lightheavyweight. I don't think Joe wants to fight at 168 anymore anyway. If Joe stays in the game after the Jones fight, a Pavlik match can be made in 2009.

I'd rather see him fight Pavlik for several reasons.

        * Joe looks better at SMW.
        * Roy Jones avoided Calzaghe before (argue and disagree all you want, it's true), but now wants to fight. Joe should tell him to take a hike.
        * If Joe fights Roy he will be accused of picking on old-timers.

Why not just fight both? What's an additional fight for the nr 2 p4p champ? Fight Jones first, if he wins which I don't think will be as easy as people are likely to predict he can fight a more seasoned Pavlik. Jones has a better chance overall, smart fighter with good power and handspeed, just no legs but Calzaghe's pretty flatfooted himself. Calzaghe doesn't have the power to knock out Jones so I'm not even considering that option. I'd go to Wales to see it
