I think he did a good job of reffing but he has a biased against U.K. fighters..
he should have reffed the way he did for Hatton v Mayweather the same he did for the Calzaghe fight.

Bernard is allowed to hit and hold but the paler isnt?

Badly .. he is biased .. he doesn't have a history of this though, just the last two fights he has come across biased.

i think this backlash against him has to do with the fact that the top uk fighters who came here to fight happen to be in 2 clinchfests.it's just a coincidence.

I was happy with Cortez. Never thought I'd be saying that. Should maybe have warned Bernard about his head, but who cares, Calzaghe didn't seem bothered and he didn't complain.

i think we'r being a little harsh on him yes b-hop got inside and was allowed to fight in there for a little while but cortez still broke that up every now and again so he was pretty consistent.

if he had let the fighting go on the inside then he would have been criticzed by the UK for letting the american have an advantage

if he had not let the fighting go on the inside then he would have been criticzed by the USA for poor reffing and not knowing what the sport is about

looks as though he was stuck between a rock and a hard place, imo he did reasonably well but there was always going to be questions following his performance in hatton-mayweather.

does anyone think wed have made such a bigg issue out of it if he had reffed 2 american fighters.

Cortez did fine. Some feel he favoured B-Hop slightly, but thats just because Bernard was the one doing most of the fouling, and hence should have got more warnings.

Cortez warned them when he had to and kept himself out of it, not deducting any points. A wise choice, since that was all a fight like that needed for who knows what controversy on these boards...

I though he did a good job. It was another fight that he did that was half wrestling match, half boxing match. No points were taking away and he let the judges make the decision.

What are you talking about did you not see Bowe vs Holyfield 1 & 3? or Johnson vs Ruiz? or Mayweather Jr vs Hatton? there are loads of fights in which Joe just ****ed up to me last night he finally did a good job.
