who feels let down by joe??

    i ****ing do.

he fought an awful fight tonight, and only just squeezed out a win in my opinion. hopkins neutralized him BIG TIME throughout the majority of the fight.

I REALLY wanted Joe to put on a stellar performance, but he didn't. Fair enough in some peoples eyes a win is a win, but not in mine.

He was lucky to get that victory, he didn't silence any critics, and is more than likely going to fight RJJ next, who has no business even being in the ring anymore.

Even in victory, it appears Joe has lost in terms of the educated boxing fans opinion.

Joe is getting old, live with it. He will look even worse if he choses to fight again. I called it after the Kessler fight. Its all down hill from here.

His hand speed is basically gone. His work rate is falling. He is just slowing down in general. He is smart and crafty, so he will keep winning fights for a while, but we will never see another Kessler or Lacy type performance out of him.

I dont fault Joe. He fought a guy who was running and a guy who was let hold all night by the ref.

The cards were stacked against Calzaghe tonight. One of the judges even hosed him tonight, i bet that judge is staying in the best hotel tonight out the 3 of them.

I think it was a poor performance for sure, his worst in years. I focussed so much on what Joe wasn't doing that I forgot to see what he did.

I read a good post from Tyson pointing out that Hopkins is an elite level spoiler and defense merchant of legendary proportions and that NO fighter has ever looked good against him. I was definitely impressed with Hopkins, so it may be that rather than criticising Joe we should be praising Hopkins.

Personally I think Joe looked like he'd lost reflexes and handspeed, but I'd have to look at the fight again to be sure.

As it has been said; Calzaghe did what he had to do to give himself a chance. He wasn't going to win toe-to-toe, hand-to-hand actually Boxing and exchanging punches. Calzaghe can Box, but he couldn't outBox Hopkins. No ****ing sir. He couldn't fight a traditional fight and have any chance of winning, because he didn't have the skills or ability to hang in there at the highest level. Even with superior handspeed.

Nobody looks good against Hopkins, the only letdown from this fight that I have about Calzaghe is that he still doesn't seem to have very good defense for the right hand.

He did what he had to do to win, if this was his worst performance in years, he wouldn't have beaten Hopkins.

nah his handspeed was still there, its just Hopkins has those tactics and he makes everyone he faces look bad and or boring. There were a few times when they were actually trading you could tell Joe still had the handspeed. he just wasnt able to show it as much with hopkins clinching every other second.
