Hands down Cortez is the worst referee at this time. He wasn't always this bad so maybe it is age. But I definitely don't want to see him ref another championship bout of this caliber. It almost seems he picks a favorite fighter from the beginning and helps him through out the fight. Maybe he works for the new beast in boxing which is Golden Boy Productions, owner of the Ring magazine and its belts. Even the HBO Telecast was biased until Calzaghe obviously turned the fight all the way around. I'm glad for once a fighter beat the powers that be.

To be honest, i thought he was being a bit gay in the first 3 or 4 rounds but from then on i was happy with him really.

Cortez is not a ***** ass ref. He knows the importance of the fights and is willing to let the judges decide the fight and not the ref

The only disgrace is your lack of english TS. Proof read your posts next time, they are pathetic.

BTW, thegreatone1, LOL @ Hopkins getting dropped from a "body shot" aka a punch in the groin. Both guys fouled, Calzaghe did it just as often as Hopkins, Calzaghe was throwing rabid punches, Cortez did a great job. And STOP TALKING ABOUT HATTON, he is not in Mayweather's league, LET IT GO!!!!

I didn't really think Cortez was that bad. His last two notable fights have been some tough ones with physical guys like Hatton and Bernard who like to hold a lot. I was hoping he wouldn't take away points from either fighter and he didn't because both last night were fighting dirty at times. If he would have had fights like Marquez/Vasquez or Pac/Marquez where the ref didn't have to do a whole lot then nobody would be talking bad about him.
