Cortez had a very rough fight to ref today..... I thought he did ok... as far as the hatton fight... I thought he did a terrible job.. however... if it were up to me... let the kids box... its not the Cortez show... we didn't order HBO or any PPV to watch you.. let em box, if one of them is dirty, then let the other be dirty...Comment

Exactly. People can complain about B-Hop leading w/ his head somewhat, but it's not like he was landing butt after butt or throwing it around on the inside to a large degree. He uses it, sure, but not to such a large degree that a point deduction was needed. This depends. There are category's in fouls. If a guy lowblows another 5 times, he should get a point deducted. If he elbows twice, and holds the head twice, and lowblows once..you can't really deduct points for one specific thing, IMO.
Wether Calzaghe hit a homerun on his nuts, or gave him a soft pad..he still gave Hops some low blows. They both had their fair share of rough tactics. Just be more open minded.
So what else are people complaining about... his holding? He wasn't holding on for dear life, wrestling with him, hugging and hitting non-stop... there were clinches. Taking points away for fighters clinching damns a referee and a fight. A fighter has to be grabbing their opponent to truly deserve point deductions for it. Not stepping forward into punches, then when on the inside wrapping up a little.
Would it have been nice to see a little less of it? Sure. But there was nothing wrong w/ how Cortez conducted himself in the fight. Cortez could've blown the fight by taking points away. Instead, he ref'd a good fight and nobody had any deductions.Comment

Hopkins must have landed about 30+ low blows in that fight. Just pitter patter ones on the break on the blind side of the referee, terrible I think personally.
Funny about the whole Cortez and Hatton to Cortez and Hopkins comparison. "Fair but Firm", what a load of ****.Comment

Leading with his head? No. Following his straight right w/ his head? Yes.
