6-8 years ago, you could argue Calzaghe by knockout with his healthier hands. Unlikey, but your free to dwell on that if you like.

I didn't say he took SO MANY hard shots, but he did get tagged a few times in the fight - certainly he NEVER hit Hopkins as hard as he got hit. As for Joes' punching power 6-8 years ago - two things:

#1 : He was always too scared to "cross the pond" and NEVER faced the caliber of fighters Hopkins has faced in his career as a whole, so toss out half the KO's because he faced a buttload of relative "unknowns and never could be's" in building that KO and Undefeated record. He most certainly did not face anyone even close to a "prime" Hopkins.

#2 : Hopkins had more power too, and he STILL would have controlled the fight pace, Joe C. could NEVER look good against Hopkins, but then few fighters could.

I say all this, and I am not even a Hopkins fan, I don't care for his attitude, or his boxing style, however effective it has been for him...

Hopkins landed more effectively, Joe was the continual aggressor. Unlucky for Hopkins, but it wasn't a robbery by any means. With different judges it could have been a reverse decision it was just that kind of a fight. Personally I had Hopkins just edging this one for the win but I can understand others awarding it to Calzaghe for aggression. Interesting but messy fight.

Joe edged him in a close fight. Hopkins coulda got aggressive and stopped him but he was waitin for it to happen by way of a counterpunch.

Shame on both of them for leaving it up to the Judges.... However, if we want to point it correctly (as i love when it actually happens) J.C won big time...

I felt like Hopkins landed the more effective punches, but it just wasn't enough. Landing 8 to 13 punches a round isn't gonna win you a decision when the other guy is throwing twice as many and landing twice as many.

I think you can make a case for hopkins winning the fight but this fight resembles a lot of calzaghe's fights... at first calzaghe looks cold then he loosens up and fights his fight.

IMHO Calzaghe didn't land a lot of clean punches in the 2nd half of the fight except for a few clean straight lefts that Hopkins took very well.

It was a pretty sloppy fight and I don't think compubox got it right. Calzaghe did land glancing punches to Hopkins' body and back but it was nothing like the clean effective punches that RJJ landed on Hopkins.

I had B-HOP winning, based on the cleaner, harder shots.
