I have a funny feelings that Hopkins is gonna pull it off.

I think that's a good post Kilrain. It's the best analysis I've seen so far of how Calzaghe might actually lose i.e one that doesn't just say "Bernard is too smart, he has a counter right hand" etc, and takes into account what Calzaghe might do. I agree completely that if Calzaghe does lose that will probably be how. He can indeed be overeager at times.I've picked Hopkins all through the build up and laid some good money on him to pull out a decision. You learn not to bet against someone like Bernard. Age is only a number and he proves it. No one can make him fight every minute of every round, because he moves so well and has such a tremendous defence that its not simply a case of exchanging blows with him, like it was with Calzaghe against Lacy who was there to be hit. Calzaghe's gonna have to go after him. And in doing so he'll leave himself open to the big counter right, and make no mistake Hopkins is strong at this weight, he's imposing, he's razor sharp and when he makes you miss he makes you pay. I think that will tell in this fight. I think Calzaghe's gonna be a little overeager, I think he's gonna eat some big rights and I think he's gonna find himself on the wrong side of some roughhouse tactics inside, it's gonna be dirty, punishing and very intriguing. Hopkins by decision.
However, I don't think he will lose, I think we'll see him on top of his game, and he'll give Bernard the respect he deserves unless he goes in there and really feels superior. He usually only goes looking for it when he's absolutely sure of the win and that he can't be beat. Against Lacy he even kept his distance and boxed nicely right up until the end, and he took that one by a mile. If he respected Lacy he'll respect Hopkins surely. Having said that, he was marching in in R12 against Kessler, and what that says about how strong Joe's chin is terrifies me!
I think if I was Hopkins I would actually play possum, make Joe think I was older than I was and lure him into making mistakes. That depends on Hopkins actually being able to beat Joe in the first place though, so I think it would be a big risk!

It would not surprise me.
Okay, the British fighter has been a World Champion for well over a decade and had defeated the likes of Kessler, Eubank, Reid and Lacy, but he has never once fought at Light-Heavyweight and Hopkins has such a great right hand.
Many have pointed out that Hopkins is a few years older than the 36 year old London-born fighter but people must remember that Hopkins is in amazing shape and that Foreman was a Heavyweight Champion of the World at 46.Comment

My first instinct is to say that Hopkins has defeated the odds so many times, that he will do it again. I won't lose another bet thanks to Bernard Hopkins upsetting me. This time, I bet on Hopkins winning.Comment

For the longest time on here, people were about 4 to 1 that Calzaghe would win. That gap has closed significantly and I saw a TV poll that was almost dead even, with 15% of people picking Hopkins by TKO (even though he has one in his last 8 fights.)Comment

meh, Winky beat Hopkins as far as Im concerned. and Winky had no business fighting at that weight.
Calzaghe has been there his whole career. He shouldnt too big a problem. although I feel hes going to be bleeding in this fight, Hopkins best punch is his straight right headbutt
and actually, after rewatching Calzaghe vs Reid...I feel like Calzaghe is going to be frustrated by Hopkins. he shouldnt even lose rounds against this old ass version of Hopkins, but he might just be irritated throughout the boutComment
