As for the people who say Mayweather is exciting, it's partially not his actual fights people find exciting (the Hatton fight was i admit, he needs more fights like that), it's the prospect of him being beat. He has his fans, people who don't necessarily like him but appreciate his skill so they watch him, then the legion of haters who want to see his ass kicked.

For example, my brother hates Mayweather and said when he beat Hatton "i'm gonna watch his fights till someone beats him cos he's such a ****", i think that's what at least 20% of people watch him for. Before you disagree, how many of you non-mayweather fans can say you wouldn't cheer and high five the nearest person if Cotto knocked Mayweather down and out with a huge right hook?

Anyways, I don't think winning should be all boxing's about, I think all fighters should be inclined to make the fight as fun to watch as possible. That way more than just hardcore fans would frequently tune in to watch fights other than ones with the top 10 P4P crew, and I wouldn't always turning over any fight other than one with a huge name in it.

im tired of this kinds of threads of people saying mayweather is boring.
ok, his fights are not like gatti - ward, or marquez - vasquez, we all agree there, but he is not those kind of fighters. his best weapon is not his heart, or going for the ko, or workrate, or willing to take a punch just to hit the other guy.... he is a guy that is defensivley is amazing and he uses that perfectly well on his fights. he is very smart on the ring, cos he doesnt lose his head on there. for example against de la hoya he never trade shots or fight on mid range cos he knew he has no business there or , but against hatton he knew that he could handle him on the inside so he did. i enjoy watching mayweather for his amazing skills and accuracy, maybe i dont jump off my chair like i did on marquez vasquez, but still i enjoy his fights. not every fighter can have a style that pleases the crowd, and also its not your ass thats on the line here. i agree we need more gattis and tyson, etc... but i dont agree we need less mayweathers. remember this is not a street fight, its a sport.

a sport? i agree that we need fighters that fight like Mayweather, but we need MORE fighters who fight like Cotto, Marquez Bros, Vazquez, Calzaghe, Taylor Etc in order to keep this as a BUSINESS SPORT.

i do agree with the tread start but tbh i do perfer a boxer to totally out class the other guy ie calzaghe v lacy, mayweather v gatti, hopkins v trinidad and winky wright v trinidad

i watch tho's fights more then i watch tyson, tua, young gatti(except against ward1 i love that fight) and benn fights
