I dont believe this...you have tiger woods as the "toughest" athlete? are you kidding me?

a golfer shouldnt even be on that list.

    what a joke.

there are plenty of boxers alone who are tougher than tiger woods...where do you put a kelly pavlik; a JMM, a MAB, a Morales; etc.

    look at this:

    Floyd Mayweather

What makes him tough: He's the best boxer alive at 39-0 with 25 KO and has beaten Ricky Hatton, Oscar De La Hoya and Carlos Baldomir. At 31, Mayweather owns six world boxing championships in five different weight classes.

Defining moment: With De La Hoya trying to use his larger frame to bully him into the ropes, Mayweather responded with torrid counterpunching and won their bout last May by split decision.

BEST BOXER ALIVE? i STRONGLY disagree with that statement. what about ali? i consider ali to be the best boxer alive. not mayweather...

and since when does beating baldamir help you claim the honor of "greatest boxer alive"? or hatton for that matter...

de la hoya i can see...but those other 2 i cant see that helping you become the "greatest boxer alive".

sports illustrated should just stick to swimsuit magazines specials instead of choosing the "toughest athletes".

Any list based on subjective criteria may be interesting to discuss, but realistically is completely irrelevant. In fact, this author went so out of the way to achieve randomness in the list that it isn’t even worth debating.

Yea I figure they meant best boxer that's still fighting. Other than that I completely agree; a golfer would not be tougher than most boxers in mentality or physicality.

That white dude??....Are you talking about Fedor Emelianenko??.....The undefeated #1 p4p fighter in MMA and the greatest MMA fighter of all time.

Fedor should be #1 on that list.

I bet the whoever wrote this doesn't even believe this **** he's trying to sell. SI is trying it's best to look clever by thinking outside the box, and invoke a reaction. Nothing but flamebait on SI part.

you can't be extremely physically tough without being mentally tough..
                    the opposite is possible though

Why is it that people boxing is the only tough sport out there??? Yes Golf is tough as well it both mental and physically tough...Because you throw a punch does necessarily makes you a tougher athlete.
