no he didn't go to prison.

he was suspended from boxing for about 3 years or so.

his conviction was overturned by the supreme court because it was found out that the fbi was illegally wiretapping ali.

like i said. he was convicted but he didn't do time in prison. he was free but they took away his passport and his boxing license. they appealed and after about 3 years they overturned his conviction. you really should go to a library if this is for a research paper.

According to his Autobiography 'The Greatest' by Richard Durham Ali did go to jail for a small spell, but not for rejecting service. I think it was for not paying parking tickets or something.

What I admire most of Ali's steadfast refusal to be drafted was how little physical danger he faced himself. He wasn't going to the frontlines of 'Nam, he would be putting on exhibitions for the USO. In hindsight you cannot make the argument that Ali was scared of facing the war because he wouldn't be seeing any action.
