I voted for James Toney... A supermiddle weight (at least that were he started his career) who beat Jirov ( highly ranked cruiserweight)
and then Holyfield. Thats a nice accomplishment IMO.

You ought to actually cast a vote then.

By the way, Toney started at middleweight. The IBF title that Jones and Hopkins fought for was vacated by Toney when he went north to kick Barkley's ass.

eh, I voted for Toney, but Im kind of having second thoughts on it...

but Jirov was a very accomplished Cruiserweight and had multiple legit title defences coming into that fight, and it was a fantastic fight.

Holyfield was partially gone, but again, Toney really beat him up and basically ended his career right then and there. and this was his Heavyweight debut, wasnt it? so thats pretty impressive, especially for a guy who came up from Middleweight originally.

the only reason I didnt choose Johnson right off the bat is because Johnson arguably lost the 1st Tarver fight...pretty much the only time a close decision has gone his way, haha...

Vernon Forrest had pretty huge wins over Mosley, but I kind of have a problem with a fighter getting FOTY because of a win over just one guy, cause maybe that guys style is made for ya, you know? but hes a great candidate, wins over Mosley at that point and time were HUGE.

Trinidad is also a great option. Reid and undefeated Vargas are pretty big wins if you ask me...

Undefeated Reid, one loss some guy I've never heard of, and undefeated Vargas. Reid and Vargas alone is a great year, and fighting a nobody can't actually hurt that, and considering he only had one loss, I can't imagine that it doesn't get him at least a fraction more of credit.
No way. Both Reid and Vargas were real young and, short of a few timely low-blows, he almost got KOd by Fernando.

And I had Vargas taking over from 3-5 but after that Trinidad pretty much began to dominate (after low blows, ouch 'Nando felt them)

In BOTH fight Tito got dropped and came back BOTH times will LOW BLOWS to get time to recover, while Reid and Vargas took their time for the low blow.
you are joking right?so 2 knockdowns in the first round vs vargas where dirty tactics?you my friend need to take of those biased glasses on because you clearly have some other motive for disliking tito as obvious for your avatar.
