Prime Hopkins vs Kessler and Prime Hopkins vs Prime Eubank would be great fights though...
Since all of Hopkins biggest wins came after he turned 36, I'm still wondering when his prime was.

Looks more like a "prime Calzaghe would have beat any version of Hopkins" type of thread.
My point is that this is all pretty irelivent.

April 19th, the best fighter will win.

Also, how about asking that question the other way around, is there anyone on Joe's record that Bernard wouldn't beat? Maybe... a prime Robin Reid would have been a good fight, I imagine Sakio Bika's unorthodox style and raw power would give an oldman Hopkins plenty of trouble, and also I think Mikkel Kessler would KO Hopkins. I don't think Hopkins has the power to keep Jeff Lacy off him like Joe did either.

I'm guessing the Trinidad or Johnson fight although he also looked great against Tarver and that was only 2 years ago. Calzaghe deserves a lot of credit if he pulls this off, Hopkins is no ordinary 43 year old.

I keep hearing all of this stuff about Bernard throwing one punch per century these days, but since he threw 640 punches in the Winky Wright fight 8 months ago, and that was twice his output in the first Taylor fight 3 years ago, I'm not sure I agree.

Johnson hadn't faced a single live body when he faced Bernard, so I'm not sure that win really counts for much. Trinidad, when Bernard was 36, was pretty much the first opponent that he beat that had a pulse.

I don't think Joe would have knocked out DLH(woulda won though). And we'd have to be talking about a 160 pound Calzaghe. And a 168 pound Hopkins. Who knows what wudda happened.
