  • Is Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. as good as advertised?

He has a ton of fights, however, I dont think that he has fought for a title yet. I know that he is young, but is he as good as advertised???? Someone help me with this one...

He is a good fighter and has a chance to be a champ wit a rep of his own instead of just livin off his pop's name. But as of now he has yet to face a serious challenger to prove he can meet the hype. He's been moved along nicely but protection time is over. It's time for him to step his game up against someone who actually has a chance of beatin him.

I agree 100%. The reason I ask is because he has been on a few PPV undercards and its like, everytime I look up, he is fighting and knocking someone out. I am ready to see this kid under the lights of a real battle...Berto maybe???

I'm not very impressed by him, a good boxer would beat him.

Well, considering that I've been a fan of his for a long time, I have to vote yes in the poll.

JCC jr. never had much of an amateur career (6 fights, I believe), so he's learning as he goes in the pros. He is much improved over what he was just a year ago, and I believe that with a few more fights, he'll be ready to take on top 10 opponents and, in a year and a half or so, compete for a title.

I've always liked his style. The way he fights reminds me of Trinidad, only without as much power. His left hook and straight right are things of beauty.

I definitely wanna see him against Berto. Both need to step it up and somebody's 0 will go. Berto also has a top spot in the WBC rankings so it would be a meaningful fight for both guys. Of course they're light years away from a fight against Floyd but the winner would be in the title mix somewhere. Maybe they could face the winner of Quintana and Williams if Mosley-Judah's winner don't beat em to it.

I think that Berto has yet to be tested as well, Berto vs. JCC Jr seems like a good fight and logical fight to make. I think that Berto is doing more in the division, since he has fought some guys with experience. I just want to see young boxers taking on challenges to see how good they really are. Yea it is koo to gain experience to the pro game being young. But this is an INDIVIDUAL man sport, the only way to get better is to challenge the guys who are "better" than you, although you may be young.

I have been wondering about him too, I haven't seen him fight yet. I dont want to pay to watch him fight a nobody on ppv. They have been protecting him TOO much IMO. Sooner or later he might have a bad night and lose to one of these bums he's facing and lose all his marketability.

Nah, he gets hit way too much. He hits hard and has a good chin but a good boxer will smoke him.
