In the end Calzaghe outworked Kessler by about 500 punches. Hopkins has to worry about that.

Same thing happened with Johnson vs Dawson, in some of the rounds (not all) Dawson lands his punches on Johnson's gloves while Johnson lands his punches flush on Dawson's chin and wobbles Dawson... but the sheer number of punches Dawson threw compared to Johnson in those rounds made many people score them Dawson.

I'm not saying it's wrong to score fights like that but it's definitely a factor in this fight and there will probably be a wide variety of opinions on how the fight went after Saturday...
    Exactly.

    It's been known to happen.

I mean yeah.. But look at Kessler for chist sakes.. Hitting Kessler is like hitting a Century Bob. Hopkins doesn't like to get hit, you think Calzaghe is going to be scoring at will on Hopkins or something?

Joe stated that he's gonna sit more on his punches and that he'll be the one to cut down his output to like 500 or so...so I don't if thats good or bad..

HaHA.. Let's not forget Hopkins has among the very best defense in all of Boxing. It won't be easy to hit this guy. Hitting Kessler and Lacy? Wow. :wank:

He doesn't have to land clean, he just has to keep throwing and make Hopkins overly defensive and it'd win him the round.

I'm sure you'll agree that how Calzaghe goes about it is the important thing, and frankly; I don't believe Calzaghe is very effective at scoring without leaving himself vulnerable. Did I mention Hopkins is one of the best counter punchers in the sport, and Calzaghe has already clammed up when he took a big counter shot whilst in full on attack mode on more than one occasion?

Honestly, I think he's spittin drag, but Calzaghe will have to pick his spots more and he knows it.

Neither guy is interested in looking bad, especially Joe.

Sure, Hopkins is one of the best counter puncher in the sport but he has become overly defensive before and his low workrate won't help.

It wouldn't suprise anyone if Hopkins fails to throw enough punches, but that goes back to what I was saying about him taking the fight in the first place; is he really that ******? I suppose it's possible he's just rolling the dice here and taking a chance.. Not that much to lose, I guess. He's 84 after all.
