The fight was made at 147, so Hatton was a 147 pound fighter. They were fighting for Floyd's belt as well. What difference does it make where the fighter came from weightwise? Both were 147 at the time of the fight. Also, I'd add that I agree with you Floyd should fight Cotto. But, why fight him now when he has no name outside of Puerto Rico and NYC when he can establish a paying following and command millions. Isn't that the REAL reason they fight is to get paid?Floyd beat the "So Called" man at 147 to be the man. He is Wbc 147 champ, hatton was 140 champ moving up and his previous fight was against Castillo at 140. hatton was not a 147 fighter. Exemptions and not facing mandatories is the "reason" why fighters get stripped all the time but for whatever reason Floyd has his own rules.Comment

PBF's mandatory last I heard was Andre Berto. That is a fight that doesn't need to be made. Berto is the mandatory who is not even trying to exercise his mandatory status. So what does that tell you? To me it says that Berto knows that he is not ready for PBF and doesn't want that fight. So actually PBF doesn't have a mandatory.
I think for all the information we get as fans we really don't get **** for real. I remember a person from Hatton's camp saying they were in negotiations for the PBF fight for 3 years. While we fans were sitting here arguing about that fight not coming off and **** like that the whole time they been knew that **** was going to happen. It is quite possible that is the same situation we have right now with PBF vs. Cotto.
Berto is the #1 WBC contender, but he is not yet the mandatory. He will be fighting for the mandatory spot in June. Since Berto and Mayweather have the same advisor (Al Haymon), you can expect that fight to be made only when (and if) it serves everyone's purpose.Comment
