It was all abit boring to be honest, I wonder what Hops is planning for the run in.
I think the fact that JC wants to beat this guy so badly & has more to fight for would leave him exposed. He will be eager to impress on his US debut BUT Bernard is a seasoned operator and will box cleverly!

B-hop stop talking about yourself in the 3rd person, you sound like a ****! A special catertgory in pound for pound just for him......he lost to JERMAIN ****ING TAYLOR twice, a B+ above average HBO fighter! What is he on....

Nice to see Calzaghe with a charachteristic calm. Roll on Saturday.

Bernard was fairly calm and respectable by his standards, good to see. He still likes to rant about himself a bit too much though. He demonstrated his ignorance pretty well when he mentioned "all the Enlglish fans" which he's done before, someone in team Hop tell him it's Welsh, and British, perhaps they don't know either. You can't expect people to take his British fighter criticisms seriously when demonstrating a lack of understanding the most basic nationalistic, geography aspects.

He's stood infront of a Welsh flag, and has had fans waving British and Welsh flags all over the place in front of him, what more does he need? A basic geography lesson clearly.
It's forced ignorance. He makes the English remark, because it's a way of acting as if he doesn't care about Joe or where he comes from. I'm pretty sure by now he'd have heard. Even if he were SO DUMB, he didn't know the difference. I'm sure, he'd have been told about the difference by SOMEONE. It's a way of showing he doesn't care.

That's a decent point and is probably somewhat true. Not completely though I don't think.

When he thinks before he speaks, at a much slower pace is when he's actually engineering what he's saying, being tactical etc. He's demonstrated this before, and has been accurate on the geography. Increasingly this isn't the case, which is convincing me he is getting worked up, as slower well thought out wording occurrences are fading.

He perhaps knows some basic facts that Joe is Welsh, as he's said so in slower interviews. But when he rants on pace without first thinking through his words, is when he makes slips up like English, and other in-accurate things. There's been quite a few slip ups which serve no good whatsoever, indicatory of just a big mouth whom slips us.

It's like a mixture of bad habit, ignorance, and just not thinking things through at all, just waffling on in a desperate bid for attention, ala white boy comments.

The English/Welsh thing is ignorance. However, he's not alone. A lot of people outwith the UK see the citizens as English whether they are Welsh, English, Irish or Scottish. They can't see the difference between English and British.

But most Americans are like that, I spoke to an american girl once, telling her where i was from she replied "oh manchester in london uk!"

But tbh this is boxing - it isn't a level geography is it?

Well not wanting to get into that kind of debate, many don't look upon such world ignorance favorably. I'm half Welsh/Eng and just travelled Asia and all sorts meeting many people, and didn't experience such basic lack of their globe. I think a factor that helps is Football and Rugby, to not so big American sports, are some of the biggest world sports. Wales do well in Rugby which is a big global sport, but not in America.

Anyways, when your talking on the big stage, I don't think there's any excuse for not knowing and speaking with basic accuracy on your opponents nationality. I don't know many sports whereby one side refers to their opponent as being from one nation one minute, and another nation another. Especially with the flags being paraded left right and centre. It doesn't sit well with his Puerto Rico antics either, he knows how to make enemies.

Perhaps if Bernard fully realised Eng is not the entire Britain, that it includes Wales (Joe, Enzo M, Rees, Pryce), and Ireland, Scotland, he wouldn't say the US are better fighters than the Brits. Compare with population levels and the facts don't back him up. Perhaps though it'd take Joe beating him, or perhaps he'll never stop making such ignorant broad and just odd insults, upon nations and their boxers.

                  Props for posting.

Shaeffer is quite a funny guy.."for those of you who didnt understand what Enzo said I'll translate.."

Quite disrespectful to erroneously refer to Calzaghe as English as well.

Hopkins is a superior fighter in my opinion. He's what, 12-0 vs southpaws? Age is only number and he proves it. He fights efficiently and conservatively anyway, his punch output his economic and accurate. He doesn't slap. If Calzaghe comes to throw 1000 punches he's gonna get countered badly all night. This is style vs energy, age vs youth. I just think Hopkins is gonna put on a clinic and Calzaghe will be overeager. I also don't think the weight increase will help him as much as he says. Hop has really grown into the lt-heavy mark.

You say Jermain Taylor like the guys a bum. He was undisputed middleweight champ. He's only lost to 1 fighter.

Styles make fights. Bernard's style didn't mesh very well with Taylors. Jermain fought very cagey in both fights and actually fought technically brilliant fights (though Hopkins weared him out both times and won both fights IMO), but Calzaghe presents a more appealing style to Hopkins. He's an open book.

Hopkins is definitely a couple of inches taller.
