Should referee's be drugtested before fights?

No, they should not. Next thing you know, you bastards try to test Larry Merchants pre fight alcohol levels. Where is the world going these days, you get no respect from these younglings.

Nope. I'd like to think I live in a free country and people are judged competent until proven incomptent.
It would be nice if boxing had a review board like they do with the NFL, and judge a referee's performance by a panel to determine where he went wrong and if he should get the next big fight.
Before is silly.

They should test this judge for drugs. Worst judge ever.
Not only did he somehow manage to come up with the 120-108 scorecard (for Navarro) on the recent fight between Mijares and Navarro, he also has a history of bad judging in fights such as W. Klitschko vs Williamson, Griffin vs Toney, Spinks vs Judah and Marquez vs Barrera...Last edited by TheGreatA; 04-17-2008, 06:45 AM.

I was watching the last 4 rounds of Nate Campbell-Ricky Quiles and the only thing I could think was, "What is wrong with Jorge Alonso, why won't he stop the fight?" I'm no DARE teacher, but he must have been on crack to not stop that fight.
Should mandatory drug-testing be in place for referees?
And while we're at it, how about Breathalyzers for judges?
Problem is Ryan, your basing it on the actions pf one of the WORST referees in the biz, imo. Alonso continues to get the bigger fights in Florida for some reason and the guy is horrible. Recently more fights are going to Tommy Kimmons, and rightfully so. Maybe the commission has noticed Alonso's shortcomings. But my humble opinion is that Alonso is as bad as Jay Nady and Laurence Cole.
That being said, I dont have a problem with drug testing on referees. They hold a fighter's well being in their hands, they should be coherent enough to handle the responsibility.
And by the way, when is someone going to tell 'Fair But Firm' Joe Cortez that he risks hurting a fighter at the end of every round when he finds the need to jump on their backs and spin them away from the other fighter? I'm waiting for a fighter to have his back or knee wrenched by him one of these days!
