Maybe he's letting it piss him off, maybe he fights better pissed. Hatton laughed off Mayweather's antics and that got him nowhere. Or maybe he's just scared. Hopkins has said a lot of **** to piss him off, which is Hopkins' usual gameplan. Get you pissed before the fight, get you in the ring, and frustrate you until you fight with your emotions rather than your head.
Bernard is the ****ing man. I'm going to miss this dude like no other
yeah i'm miss him too. i know i'm going to canstona when he get inducted. i still remember meeting and sitting next to him at a fight. the crazy thing is he only lives 20 minutes away from me
Guys, he's not really gotten to Joe, certainly not that much. Your reading those words with your own tone, not Joe's. If there's a video I'd imagine like all the other video's if you watch them, Joe's pretty calm and grinning, far from shaken. Don't try to make something of nothing. Bernards said far far worser things, so if anything there's more of a call for saying he's rattled. And please don't say he's been to prison.
Exactly what I was going to say. Think of it in a Welsh accent and it all becomes so much clearer.

no, b/c that is B-hop's personality. Being a nutcase stays with his comfort zone. Calzaghe is the one breaking with his normal personality.

everyone has a breaking point and joe has reached it. i'm sorry but joe never dealt with media like this and the repetive questions and someone who keep saying crazy **** to him. now all a sudden joe close his eye during shadowboxing
Right, I'll give my opinion on this one more time.
Bernard Hopkins, once, was a ten year undefeated champion. Incredible.
Then, he lost to Jermain Taylor, a fighter he would have beaten easily in his prime. Then, given the opportunity to get his title back, he lost again.
Losing to taylor in itself is not the important factor. That he lost is. He is obviously not as good as he used to be.
If he loses to Jermain Taylor, do you really think he beats Joe Calzaghe, the man who at one weight higher, actually broke Bernards's defences record, and who recently beat Mikkel Kessler with relative ease?
Since those losses, Hopkins has two wins:
Against a 36 (I think) year old Tarver, an average fighter in his prime, now long past his best.
Against a 34 (I think) year old Winky Wright, who was blown up, overweight and also past his prime.
That Hopkins lost to Taylor has everything to do with it, it is the last time Hopkins fought a prime fighter, and they are two of his most recent fights. We judge the ability of boxers on their recent results don't we? I know I do anyway.
And before you attack me over Calzaghe's age, I think his Kessler and Lacy wins show that until we see otherwise, Calzaghe can be considered close to a prime fighter.
Calzaghe takes this one, based on the evidence.

I think Hopkins is getting to Cazaghe so much I believe It'
s finally going to give him a better chance in the fight. I now think he might actually win a round!!!

Thought someone might say that, fair point.
Yes Hopkins is known for this, but I think a lot of his behaviour, style and words, are slightly different and more controversial. He's made dubious racial statements on 2+ occasions, he's making it a national thing which he hasn't done with others so much (granted most are yanks, and the puerto rican thing but still). Plus he has tremmered, stumbled on his words, and said some wierd, hypocritical things, which are clearly ill thought out and on a wild impulse.
Joe isn't known for trash talking so much, but he treats the opponent as they treat him. He's very rarely been dis respected and criticised so heavily as what Bernard has, so he's never had to respond more harshly before, and that's what were seeing. Kessler was respectful, and Joe was back, the fight sold well, everyones happy. So Joe is trash talking the most he ever has because he's getting the most he ever has. He's still not doing it as much, as wildly, controversially as Bernard.
Also I think he's playing the US system a bit aswell, it's a hype, big talk environment, and he's rising to it a little, not as much, but somewhat.
In all interviews, conferences, he's very controlled, focused, and far from rattled. When he does criticise, it's far more valid usually. I'd say Nards done 80% of the trash talking, has brought race and nations, and all sorts into it.
