I think its Cotto hes beat the better fighters at 147lbs and as people keep saying its all about the resume.

Should Cotto beat Margarito his last 9 fight would dwarf Mayweathers on comparison.

i dont understand how someone can be considered the best welterweight without fighting any welterweights. or that they are considered the best because they "most likely" can beat any welterweight.

Can anyone who voted for Floyd please explain how? He's fought 3 WW's. Judah, Sharmbe, and Baldomir. Hatton was a JWW coming up in weight just for the fight/opportunity. If u consider Hatton a WW, then explain why he fought at JWW prior to fighting Floyd, and is now back a JWW after fighting Floyd?

Oscar was a MW. So how do u vote for Floyd, when in reality he's only faced 3 WW's in his entire career. One of them was a journeyman with 9 losses, and the other one was a shopworn Sharmbe. I'll give him credit for the Judah fight.

that's funny you would ask this when you didn't even explain who you picked(most likely cotto or mosley, i won't count you out completely) and why you picked him, but chose to focus on why other people picked floyd. how about worrying about why you picked who you picked and explain that before you go and mantion floyd for the 10,000th time? can you do that boy?

how? cotto beat mosley? true. cotto beat judah? true. coot beat quitana? true. cotto eat urango? true. he's fighting margarito in july? true. now....floyd beat mitchell? true. floyd beat judah? true. floyd beat baldomir? true.. floyd beat hatton? true... mosley ducked floyd in 2006 which is why he fought baldomir? true... floyd didn't fight margarito because he had his sight on a bigger threat at a higher weight class with a bigger/greater name in de la hoya? true..fight doesn't happen, shane ducks him, that fight doesn't happen, floyd goes with the guy who had a lot of momentum and hadn't lost in 8 years and was the wbc champion of the ww division, and i believe was the number one ranked ww at the time, in carlos baldomir, and dominates him? true, while tony loses to paul williams and fights golden johnson, and then beats cintron..cotto fights and beats alfonzo gomez? true. so, gomez and urango were better than hatton because they were legitimate welterweights? is that what you're saying? meanwhile, floyd is moving up in weight to fight an oscar de la hoya and beating him, so what's the difference? he never ducked margarito, and floyd is known for moving up in weight and fighting champions, he's done it mostley his whole career, yet, he can't be called the greatest ww of our generation? fine.. that's okay, because he will be called and is the greatest fighter of his generation which in turn is ours anyway, so i'll give him that title instead then.

A case can be made for Oscar, Mosley, Tito, or Cotto. But FLOYD? Cmon.

Oscar faced: Trinidad, Mosley, Oba Carr, Quartey, JCC, and Vargas.

Tito faced: Campas, Camacho, Oba Carr, Whitiker, Delahoya.

Mosley defeated Oscar 2x at WW, and faced Forrest.

Cotto is currently running through the division and beating everyone in his path including Quintana, Judah, Mosley, and is scheduled to fight Margarito.

Floyd beat Baldomir, Judah, and Sharmbe.

                  Mayweathers last 9 fights:

Oscar, Hatton, Baldomir, Judah, Mitchel, Gatti, Brussels, Corley, Ndou, Sosa.

Cottos last 9 fights (If he beats Tony):

Margarito, Mosley, Judah, Quintana, Mallinaggi, Branco, Torres, Abdulaev, Corley.

Not only is Cottos better Floyd should not be P4P Oscar (old Oscar) and Hatton aside he hasnt done much at all in half a decade.

                      Best welterweight of our time?

Good post question. But from now to how far back is considered our time?
Floyd's the best in terms of bein the most talented, but he ain't been a WW that long and his oppsition at 147 ain't so great. Cotto's had tough comp at 147 but he also ain't been at it that long. If you're talkin the last 10-15 years, Oscar's in the discussion cuz he took on all comers, but he got beat by Shane and at least according to the judges, by Tito. Mosley beat Oscar in his prime, imo woulda beaten all of Oscar's 147 lb opponents, and is still goin strong now, so I'd give him the nod.
