What else should he say? I've been the Middleweight Champions for years (or Calzaghe too). I've broken the record for title defences (yeah before Joe broke it)...
For me to tell you the truth, this is the fight where he can really earn my respect. In a way I respect him because of his willingness and professionel attitude when it comes to preparing for every match. That's something you don't see often. You see many talented fighters, but less with professional attitude when it comes to fights, with fighters who aren't big names. That's what I respect about Floyd, and that's what I respect about Hopkins. Floyd showed me the skill to call him one of the greatest, but Hopkins ain't. I was never really a fan of Trinidad or his skills. I think Tito can beat a lot of people, like Miranda... but as soon he fights someone with decent power and boxing skills he looses. You saw it against DLH and you saw it against Winky and you saw it against Bernard.
Bernard never faced someone who is willing to give it all. And he can do it now. Because Calzaghe sooner or later if something doesn't work out, goes out in a blaze of glory. He has too much machismo and even if he says he has nothing left to prove, for him it's exactly the same. Calzaghe also never had a real super opponent. Good competition like Hopkins, but nothing special. What I'm looking for is not a boring jab, grab decision... I wanna see somebody step up and show clearly that he's the better man. Not like Hopkins vs. Taylor, or Hopkins vs. Wright... somebody has to step up in this moment, and shows that he's the better man. This is for both probably the defining moment in their career... Calzaghe always come prepared, and if Hopkins comes into deep waters and he will... we will see how much greatness, how much legend Mister I will never loose to white boy has in him. I'm very excited!!!Comment

it's true, but in my opinion, hopkins should just play the race card..............the fight is going to be huge, and its on hbo!!! i could sit in the comfort of my own home and watch it, but i kno the atmosphere is going to b CRAZY! hopkins is doing a good job of selling this ****, boxing fans should recognize that and appreciate it. the fact is, not that many ppl here kno too much about joe, so hopkins gets 2 talking about that "white boy" ****, and that gives ppl who normally dont watch boxing an incentive to watch. i'm a boxing fan, and once the fight was made, i couldn't wait, b/c i kno both guys and there is a lot at stake for both, age aside. this is the biggest fight of the year so far, in terms of whats at stake, all the other **** was build-up. your average casual fan will look at age and think its just 2 old guys fighting, so hopkins SOLD the fight, he upped the ante a lil'. i kno for a fact there will be ppl watching that just aren't boxing fans, and the **** wouldn't be like that had hops kept his mouth shut. race raltations draw emotion from EVERYBODY, so it makes sense, especially for 2 guys who are about to fight, to play the card. hopkins is a lot smarter than ppl give him credit for, and he knew exactly what he was doing when he said what he said.
think about it, that **** was like 4 months ago, but that sundbite is still getting played over and over.............smart move, but it was just for publicity, appreciate it and get over it. i'll no doubt be surrounded by like 1000 white ppl, they'll be cheering for joe, i'll be cheering for hopkins. after the fight every1 will be cool no matter what, and no matter how **** turns out, hopkins and joe will be calling EACH OTHER "great fighter" and that'll be the end of everything. and that's the way it should be..........Comment

and maybe less brains too while you're at it. great boxers hit and dont get hit back. those same mexican boxers you're taling about, wont be fighting at age 44, and if so. it wont be at a high level against great fighters.

Everything he said is true thus far! its up 2 joe 2 prove him wrong. if joe fails then no euro fighters should be allowed over n the states for the next 5yrs. punishment for a lack of preparation or talent and a disgustingly amount of HYPE!Comment

i agree it doesnt matter but was just making a point.. hopkins is a **** tho and after he takes a hammering he wont be able to come back for all the crap hes talked all this time... alot of people down here in the u.k are speculating that if hopkins starts to realise in the fight that he is loosing that he will get himself dissquallified as a cheap way to say he never lost and that he was dissqualified etc..Comment
