Because Kelson never used his height to fight tall. Kelson chose to brawl, just what Margarito is going to do. The height advantage gets nullified and actually passes to be Cotto's advantage because there is more torso to hit.

I'm not predicting Cotto by a landslide and this is his toughest match (yes, even tougher than Mosley). However, I can see how Cotto can use his handspeed and counterpunching abilities to win this fight, especially if Margarito doesn't fight tall. And, as I've said before, the accumulation of body punches might take their toll and he might win by KO. Margo isn't "unknockoutable" as some of you have said (Santos almost KO'd him four times in their second fight).

Edit: actually, the more I think about it, the more advantage I give to Cotto. He's able to throw good, solid combinations and move to the side fast enough to where Margarito might not be able to get off on him as much as he'd like. I think Cotto builds a lead in the first 3-4 rounds that Margo will not be able to make up for. Cotto by UD.
Pinto's chin is so weak that wind can knock him down.

      cotto down in 10 rounds

one thing all youguys forgot was what Emanuel was telling Cintron "he takes a good punch your going to have to box him". and that's where the difference is magarito takes a good punch as we saw this past weekend and we all seen cotto hurt before by fighters with less power than margarito oh and margarito is not going to run out gas margarito will destroy cotto

Thats where i see the advantage going over to Margarito.
Yeah, I know Margo and Pinto are worlds apart. I'm only comparing their heights and the way neither of them fights tall. In that sense, Cotto will be able to allow himself to get inside whenever he wants by letting Margarito come to him. Cotto will be moving around the ring and letting Margarito walk into the shots. I really doubt we'll see Margarito trying to jab and stay away, don't you? Also, Cotto doesn't potshot. When was the last time you saw Cotto throw only one punch? He mixes it up and throws combinations.

LOL, yeah, I'm not comparing chins, just body types, more specifically the height and how Cotto dealt with it.

Tony's taller and longer armed but he fights on the inside with body shots and uppercuts most of the time. He could make it easier on himself fightin from range but that ain't his style. He wants an inside war and Cotto will give it to him. But Tony brings the chin and the stamina to punch it out all night, and he has a body attack that can match up to Cotto's which none of Miguel's other opponents have had. I think he'll ultimately overpower Cotto in the late rounds.
