Seriously, you guys. Hatton has been taking a beating on here since the talk of a rematch began. Yes, I think Hatton should take the loss, not complain, and move on. No, I do not think he will win a rematch.
BUT...
Let's look at it from another perspective for a second.
Hatton has never lost before. He's having a hard time dealing with the reality of it. He's a supremely confident fighter, and it's been a hard pill to swallow. Most of us are sick of him mentioning Cortez when he's interviewed about the fight, but ask yourself this- when you were watching the fight, didn't you think Cortez was being uncharacteristically hard on Hatton? I think most fair-minded people would agree Cortez was not ref'ing his normal fight. Cortez allows infighting all the time in his fights, and it does seem he was ref'ing the fight strangely. Would it have made a difference in the outcome? Who knows? But probably not. Yet it gives Hatton a foundation to try and get another fight with Floyd. Should Hatton not try? Why shouldn't he? It's the biggest fight he can make, and he believes he can beat Mayweather. Isn't this kind of determination and self-confidence something we are supposed to admire? If you want to be mad at someone for Mayweather-Hatton 2, then get mad at Floyd for fighting Hatton instead of Cotto. But how can you fault Hatton? Seriously?!
Bottom line.
If Hatton can get this fight made he has a chance to be part of the biggest UK fight since the Benn/Eubank days. And an opportunity to become, with a victory- however slim you think his chances, arguably the greatest UK fighter of all time, not to mention grab the p4p #1 title. Honestly, which one of you wouldn't do the same in his shoes?
