I think both men will be facing their toughest opponent, which is what makes this such a compelling matchup.

Yes I see you twisted it around, well done. Now re-read the thread title and if you know if Cotto ever fought someone similar to Marg then please reply.

Man these Cotto lovers are worse than the Floyd nuts.

Yeah agreed will be a great fight. We pretty much know the type of fight Marg is gonna bring thats why I was made this thread. Was wondering what Cotto would do since I see him as mostly a pressure type guy who comes forward as well.

I'm far from a Cotto lover. I think Floyd would beat both of them.
And Cotto beat Mosley who is better than Margarito.

I don't believe this will be Cotto's best opponent overall. It may be his most exciting fight though due to styles.

I think Cotto will have some troubles with Marg. Particularily with the fact that at 5'11" to Cotto 5'8" Marg throws an unbelievable amount of punches a round, and those all hurt as evident by how he breaks down his opponents. While Cotto breaks his opponents down, it's with precision punching and against opponents who haven't been known to be all mentally there. Let's be realistic, Zab has been mentally ***edin every fight, and just about all his other opponents had doubts. The only real opponent he couldn't break down no matter how many bombs he landed was Mosley. Mosley was a true caliber fighter in the elite category who wasn't going to give in to Cotto's body shots or bombs. I definitely feel Marg is the kind that would take Cotto's shots and laugh and want more. The question is, will Cotto keep taking Marg's shots and press forward? Can Cotto get through the hail storm of punches Marg brings with power? Can Cotto's body shot slow Marg down and will Cotto trying to get to Marg's body open himself up for Marg's bombs? It's a great fight that can go either way and is in no means in hell an easy fight or a fight that would favor Cotto in any way, shape, or form.

Yeah I think Floyd would drive Cotto nuts with his elusive style and pick away at him all night. Would be a good fight though.

No, he has never faced a fighter with Margarito's blend of size, power, strength, toughness and work rate. He has faced tough guys (N'Dou/Mosley) and power punchers (Torres, Bailey), but nobody like Antonio.

I think Marg has fought similar fighters to Cotto just not as strong or hard a hitter as Cotto. Margarito opponets similar to Cotto imo, Diaz, Perez, Santos 2(yes, he pressured Marg), the guy Margarito tore his ear off, Frankie Randall(though past his prime he fought Marg toe to toe and held his own in some exchanges. I would say these guys are similar to Cotto in the way they pressured Margarito.

Marg is slow, but he is underestimated when it comes to "distance" and "counter punching" and "inside fighting" one of his best attributes that makes him who he is besides the obvious is his know how of "distance" very important to a fighter like Margarito.
