Ricky Hatton confirmed to Soccer AM that Golden Boy Promotions, his new promoter, has opened up negotiations with Floyd Mayweather Jr. for a rematch to take place next spring in England with Wembley Stadium as the venue of choice. Mayweather is said to be interested in making the trip for the right kind of deal. Hatton would prefer to have the rematch at 140-pounds, but the reality of that happening is very small. If he has to, Hatton will go back to 147. He moved up in weight last December for the first Mayweather bout and suffered the first loss of his career when he was stopped inside of ten. [details]

If Floyd does decide to waste time on a Hatton rematch, I really do hope he does fight him at 140, because that would actually put something he shouldn't be ashamed of on his resume at 140.
Floyd's resume at 140 is probably the worst resume of an elite fighter at a specific weight class. DeMarcus Corley is his highlight win at that weight.

Figures, and why not? hatton moved up for the 1st fight, why not make it more interesting and fight at 140. But I wonder will Floyd agree to do it @ 140?

Floyd jr at 140 is gonna be faster and stronger then at 147.
Hatton wont fair to well.
especially since they use smaller gloves in england...in las vegas they use those 10 oz gloves for anything 135 and up.
Englad its 8oz gloves for 140 pounds i believe.

Did Gatti ever beat anyone worth talking about? Did he ever even make it a close fight against an elite? Corley lost an SD against Judah, which is a HELL of a lot more than Gatti ever did.
Also, Corley never did actually beat an elite fighter, so it's not like you should be proud to have him as your highlight win.
Are you really defending Floyd's resume at 140? It is literally the worst in boxing. Period.

oh, so hatton prefers a much faster version of mayweather who will have just as much of the punching power if not more cuz mayweather gets his power from his speed. if hatton thought welter mayweather was tough, he has no idea what light welter mayweather is capable of. maybe someone should show him some fights of mayweather back in the days and get hatton to change his mind and save the fans some grief.

This is ****en bull****. I'm a big floyd fan i love watching him fight and i will defend him in arguments. But if he does this fight I will stop defending him. The dlh rematch is bad enough and now this bull****?? He needs to fight the winner of marg/cotto before he does hatton. If he doesnt fight the winner of marg/cotto then i will still acknowledge as the best boxer/fighter in the sport you cant really argue that but i will lose some love for him. I wish he would just beat cotto or marg then go do whatever it is you want to do. then you would have nothing else to prove.
