My thoughts on my boy Cotto last night.

He came in confident as hell.. but then again why wouldn't he?
He is Miguel Cotto number two welter in the world and Alfonso Gomez is a Contender star.
Miguel could have demolished Gomez quick, right away you could see that Gomez wasn't going to be able to take the punishment but I don't think this is what this fight was about. Cotto chose to get some work in and also display some of his boxing and talent.
To me it was a showcase showing viewers a little bit of what he has got.
Many think he is one dimensional and I think he was trying to show he can box too not just brawl.

But I also think that after a couple rounds he really felt bad for Gomez and wasn't trying to hurt him too bad. He could have easily destroyed him or ****ed him up like Malignaggi, Quintana or Judah but he knows that Alfonso isn't on their level.
I saw him look over to the ref a couple times as he backed up like are you gonna stop this?
No one holds of for a good 20 sec if not maybe more when they are ahead like Cotto is and doesn't punch for no reason like @ the end of the fifth round.
Or is he simply a sadist that wanted to prolong the beating?

If it was me I would have probably took it easy on Alfonso after a while too,
I would have known it wasn't a serious fight and wouldn't be willing to give someone permanent damage over it.

Anyway.. great night of fights! I hear the Shobox fights were good too only that the Dawson vs Johnson was better then the main event but controversial.. I'm gonna watch them today as they are on that chanel 1 thing.

I been telling everybody that his jab is something else!
But I can't believe there is people here who actually think he's one dimensional!
I think it was more due to the fact that Gomez was hurt and tired but impressive none the less.
My ******* get hard when I think about Cotto v. Marg though, **** I can't wait!! :wank:
