Im from london and i dont think there is any doubt the USA has the higher standard of champions. Mayweather is by far the best fighter in the sport, then you got Forrest, Hopkins (maybe not for long though), Paulie, tarver and pavlik.

By that logic cream cakes taste better with vinegar.

Seriously what kind of point were you trying to make?

If this was a posted last month it'd be so so different. Just seems like recently every british fighter has been losing their titles as of late

You're basically saying Hopkins' victories over DLH and Tito meant nothing because they were out of their weight classes right?

Well, Calzaghe is out of his weight for this fight, so what does that mean? The same could somewhat be said for Hopkins, the man who fought at MW his whole career.

Yeah, last month we had Gavin Rees, Enzo Maccarinelli and Clinton Woods too and the USA didn't have Tarver.

Hopkins started his career at light heavy and lost, so he moved down in weight so that he could push guys around and STILL counts three welterweights amongst his biggest wins. Hopkins is good but this "legend" nonsense gets thrown around too much. Calzaghe has every bit as much right as Hopkins to be described as a "legend" but quite rightly no one calls Calzaghe a "legend" because neither Joe nor Bernard are legends.

Let us not try to start a vicious argument between the two countries.

                I love Americans and America.

Both countries have had plenty of great fighters - let us leave it at that.

Howard Eastman? Yet Hopkins is a "Legend" and Calzaghe is "Protected".

It can be argued (and certainly was) that Joe was facing a huge step up in class when he fought Jeff Lacy. It was only afterwards that every single American seems to have known all along that Lacy was no good...
Lacy only had 21 or 24 fights and you call him real competition?
Calzaghe only fights inexperienced fighters or those he thinks are ready for the old people's homes. There is no doubt he is a protected species and I cant wait to see his back on the canvass.

we all know how Joe used to get 'injured ' whenever a big name was mentioned only to recover and fight an Evans Ashira

The only reason Calzaghe isn't considered a legend is because his two biggest wins are against Kessler and Lacy.

                      Forget weight,

Skills wise would you seriously put Kessler and Lacy in the same league as Tarver, De La Hoya, Wright and Roy Jones?

Hopkins did **** about with smaller guys, but some of them were world class or had legendary skills.

Thus why calzaghe isnt a legend, his best win is against some guy whos best win was against a shot Markus beyer or libero andrade.
