Cotto basically was showing that he cant be in the same ring with people like Gomez,he does need to fight the better fighters, and he is. He was styling a little bit but you me and the people with boxing knowledge knew this was going to be no match for cotto. Cotto knew it from the get go. You cant blame him he was just having mercy on him.
What's wrong with Cotto?

i know but he doesn't need to style it. let floyd style it. let cotto bring it.Cotto basically was showing that he cant be in the same ring with people like Gomez,he does need to fight the better fighters, and he is. i think arum and the guys told him to style it to showoff his skills.
he wasn't having mercy with him. mercy would've been to taking him out asap (1st round imho) instead of making him look ******. i kinda thought he kinda looked ****** himself with all the "flashy" stuff but that's just me.
it's alright though i just hope that styling thing is not a new habit of his. it doesn't suit him imo.Comment

yup it started.
i was just in a floyd posse thread.
they brought up gomez as an example of not fighting anyone by cotto......Comment

started? oh i was talking to another guy about how i was worried about what the people that don't like cotto is gonna say about fighting an overmatched gomez. i was just in another thread and they were saying cotto doesn't fight anyone and gomez is a good example.
yeah but cotto is always confident. that's nothing new. i still think his handlers put him up to it. guys like cotto seem more like the "come towards me" or "let's get it on" taunting type guy than the dancing around , flashy taunting type.Last edited by Left Hook Tua; 04-13-2008, 09:09 AM.Comment

x2....
and btw cotto has been switching from regular to south paw in fights for quite some time now....thats not new. Also, I wouldnt consider him being "flashy" last night. He looked relaxed and was saving his energy for short spree's of punches. The whole backing off and bouncing around thing just looked like a cool, collected and calm fighter pacing himself to me......Comment

cotto really does not take kind to any **** talking before a fight. i feel like he feels disrespected at the simple assertion that his foe thinks he has a chance in winning a fight against him.
that swagger was off the ****en charts, good for him!
that **** was straightup duran-esque.Comment

Also, a lot of that swaggering was a result of going "easy" on Gomez. After Rd 2 it was clear that Gomez could not hurt him. I don't think Cotto wanted to crush him to quick. So when Cotto would step back to give Gomez some space he had to do something with himself and his confidence(well deserved in this situation) took the form of posturing and such. It would be difficult to carry a guy for a whole fight without showing any arrogance.cotto really does not take kind to any **** talking before a fight. i feel like he feels disrespected at the simple assertion that his foe thinks he has a chance in winning a fight against him.

You do that when you want the other fighter to come in and counter him, he switched. The 3rd just ended and Miguel is on his way to get another KO.
But something annoyed me about how Cotto is fighting. What's up with all the ****** posing? Am I the only one noticing him stop fighting and backing off to pose? He'll do some dumb looking switching from rightie to leftie moves. Or jumping up and down after backing off from engagement.
I know it's an easy fight but why is he doing that? I've seen a lot of his fights and he doesn't usually do ****** acts like that. Looks like something Floyd would do.Comment
