no. i'm not talking about that. i'm talking about what he does when he backs off. he does this roy jones jr. rightie-leftie-rightie turning away from his opponent thing and he would stop and jump around like he was jumping rope.
maybe he was trying to show his boxing skills but he could've done that without doing it. it looked like he was trying to showboat and if he was i hope it was just because his promoter told him to showoff or something.

maybe i was just seeing things or maybe i've never noticed it before. i've seen a lot of cotto fights at least the ones shown on hbo and i've never seen him act like that. it's something roy or floyd would do. i don't care about disrespect or disdain or being ****y that's fine with me. these guys are fighters they're not trying to be man of the year or win a nobel peace prize or nothing but it was weird seeing him do that. like watching ali and frazier. you expect that from ali but if you see frazier showboating against quarry you'd be like , "wtf?" you know what i mean?

i'm gonna look at the 1st round or two again......

What was that little Liberace arm wave that he was doing after he would throw a shot? Cotto was on fire last night, baby!

I like Cotto but this is one of the reasons I've always been turned off. One, of the reasons. It's not just the gesturing and showboating tonight - it's the been the whole image that he puts on. The face scrunching, the hunched shoulders, the tough guy stuff.. The oafish looking little dances..

Like I said; I'm just glad that he backed it all up this time with some actual dominance. I'll let other folks get on him for the fact that he was clowning on a blue collar, hard working, sincere, underdog like Alfonso Gomez. That was ****ed up, but I'm not a sap so I don't give a ****..

To me, he looked sadistic. Maybe he read some people's comment on boxingscene saying that Gómez had a chance, or that Gómez could reach the 12th round, and he was trying to deliver the latter.

                  i don't know......

i know it was good for cotto's exposure to fight gomez because he's well known by mainstream fans because of "The Pretender" series but......

just playing devil's advocate......how can us cotto fans say floyd fights lesser opposition and shouldn't be fighting de la hoya or hatton when cotto fights gomez? even a baldomir would have been a better name than gomez. margarito fights cintron and cotto couldn't get a williams or clottey or berto to fight?

i know cotto deserves a break he's been fighting a lot of top names but i'm just seeing it from a floyd defender's point of view.

I think you make a good point by mentioning this.. The promoters of this fight, namely Top rank, thought Gomez would deliver a decent show. Nobody expected Cotto to make it look that easy. Not even the big brains at TR.

If Gomez had pushed Cotto to the brink this would all sound very different.

i know. but i can hear the floyd guys now when he rematches hatton and de la hoya instead of fighting cotto.

"what floyd can't fight the lineal 140 champion and fight a much bigger super welterweight? maybe he should fight someone on the contender instead."
