someone should have told Mayorga that before he fought Vernon Forresst, He may have never been champion.

Mayorga was an unstoppable force for a short period, an anomaly of unorthodox power and genuine crazy ass anger.

Forrest > Mayorga

Brawling:

That's the difference right there. Mayorga had a very specific advantage over Forrest, Gomez doesn't have any advantage over cotto (cotto is the better boxer, he's faster, stronger, better conditioned, more experienced, etc.). Cotto is simply better than Gomez in every single aspect of the sport.

The only way I can see Cotto losing is if Gomez has the fight of his life, combined with Cotto not taking the fight seriously and didn't train for **** (which would be shocking in it's own right). Kinda like Tyson/Douglas (all the stars were perfectly aligned for that to happen).

Gomez has a lot of self-belief and a lot of heart, but he doesn't have enough talent to be one of the top guys. I don't think his has an advantage over Cotto in any area to be honest. The ref will probably stop it around the 6th.

This isn't my opinion but a healthy number of experts believe that Gomez has a better chin, a bigger fighting heart, and better counter punching skills..

I don't know if you guys saw him on the contender or not but that kid showed heart.
