even the tyson v. holyfield fight could (just on their names alone).
it couldnt be on ABC (or the like networks) for every fight that would be ppv...but a good 4 fights a year or so would be big enough to take top rating for the night easily...
maybe but i think you're overestimating how mainstream boxing is.
hockey , baseball and basketball are more popular than boxing and sometimes they lose to all the old ladies at home watching csi reruns.
the days of boxing being mainstream is no longer unfortunately.
it'll do okay but not great. it's cheaper for the network to do cheap reality tv.
The networks that sell advertising don't like the unpredictability of boxing. With a football game you can count on three hours to fill. If a fight ends in the first round, millions of people tune out and then you have unhappy advertisers.

very good point. i didn't even think of that. it's still not cost effective for them though. those network guys would sell their kids for ratings. if they felt the ratings are good enough to warrant showing big fights they would.
I don't know it would have to be marketed big time, but boxing isn't one of the mainstream sports anymore so I don't think the ratings would be super huge. I think for a fight to do good in the US it would have to be some big known American boxer to get big ratings.
