Roy Jones Says UFC Nixed Silva Bout

100% true, no way known Dana White was ever going to let this happen. It wouldn't surprise me if this whole deal was a marketing ploy by White to gain more publicity for the UFC brand.Comment

Either way Dana White looked like a ***** and made his fighter look bad. Why can't Anderson fight anyway. **** the UFC contract he'd make more fighting Jones then he would in his whole career fighting for the UFC. If Silva won Dana would take him back, if he lost (We all know he would) but made a good account of himself then the UFC still comes out ahead.Comment

It shows the difference in power the two sports have other their respective fighters. Can anyone really believe that if the high and mighty WBO told Roy Jones that he couldn't fight Silva he would listen? Granted if it was his promoter it might have a bit more sway but I don't see it.Comment

There is a very BIG difference between an elite pro boxer and an elite MMA fighter. Rjj was the very best the sport had and still is very respectable today. Anderson is the very best that MMA has lb. for lb. But, the skill difference between the two sports at the highest levels is light years apart. A great MMA fighter can loose due to a lucky or untimely event happening instantly. Take George St. Pierre for an example. I think he is one of the best MMA fighters if not the very best , and Matt Serra (mid-level fighter) took him out. I think if they fight 10 more times, George will win 9 of them. However, take an elite boxer like........lets say Oscar DeLaHoya. He would never and will never lose to a mid-level oponent........ever. I think Steve Forbes is a little above mid-level , but he will still never beat Oscar. If they fight 100 times back to back, Oscar will win them all. The precise skill that has been honed for generations and passed down in the sweet science is on a more technical level and way more demanding is simply on another plaine than the sprawl and brawl , wrestling or Jiu Jitsu. Dont get me wrong, I think that those disciplines are technical in their own right, but just not to the extent that boxing is. My point is that a boxer could get lucky and KO a guy in MMA cage fighting when he is shooting for a takedown or something like that, but an MMA fighter will never be able to beat an elite boxer in a ring. Dana White knows this and he simply is avoiding it at all costs. I for one don't blame him at all. Dana is a very savy businessman and knows that even though Roy will probably toy with Silva to make the fight interresting, he could end it at any time. Roy will probably get hit by a lucky grazing shot and get mad in an instant and let his hands go - ending the fight in the flurry by accident. Then Dana gets imbarrased and doesn't get paid for it. Simple as that.Comment

Thats true, but im talking about the fans that are at the PPVs and the ones who start booing every 10 seconds that doesnt have action. I dont think it would affect anyone over at a place like sherdog because most are true fans and are smart, but im talking about the average joe and average jane. I know people who throw UFC parties and there will be girls there because they think its cool and there will also be guys who "could take so and so if they fought". Now i know for a fact those girls and most of the idiots who attend those parties would not comprehend Silva dominating MMA yet not being able to kill RJJ. I think those are the people Dana White is scared to lose.
you sound very foolish. MMA is more complexed then boxing..fans understand this, they arent ******. but im sure they realize a BOXER would win a boxing match against a mixed martial artist. and vice versa.
