PAVLIK to move up... To HEAVYWEIGHT???

Pavlik apparently said in a recent press conference for the lockett fight (NOT the April fools one) that sometime down the road in his career, he would like to move up to heavyweight.

Dan Rafael of ESPN.com says he could see it happening.

    Thoughts?

Hey, the division might have some life in it yet. 5 years from now, who knows.

Hopefully it's another joke. If he was going to have a successful HW career, he would've needed to do this a while ago.

Lt. heavyweight is a more likely scenario.

Well if Roy Jones could do it, so can Kelly. Remember, Roy actually started out at 154. Even though Roy had speed and unprecedented boxing talent, I think Kelly will be able to bring his size and power to the table, should he move up.

I don't think he'll last as a heavy weight if this ever comes true.

He's got the frame to add the weight, and he has power that would be sure to follow, if he could get a fight similar to Roy Jones (John Ruiz who didnt pose much danger) and for big money, I couldnt see how he would say no in a few years or so.

He doesn't have the power or the skill needed to compensate for that lack. It's not possible.

He oculd have a nice string of MW defenses and maybe eventually get a LHW belt, but no way could he ever compete at HW

He can't succeed at heavyweight, he doesn't have the skills or the style to move up to heavyweight and be successful. He's not the fastest guy at 160, the extra weight would just make him slower and I doubt his power would move up with him.

I think he'll be ineffective anywhere above 175.
