Gee it seems impossible to quantify who has more fans. I don't consider myself a Floyd Mayweather fan but I respect him for his skills, Cotto I like to root for because he is not a braggart just does his thing and moves to the next fight.

Id guess Floyd is more popular or well known but Cotto probably has the bigger fan base.

I think people are getting this all wrong, There is a difference between a fan and a fanbase..

A fan is a supporter of a particular sport athlete... while a fanbase is support of an athlete whether you like them or not, Based on that Mayweather has a bigger fanbase than Cotto, Cotto has more fan but his fanbase hasnt reach a worldwide peak like Mayweather's has.

Can you imagine the arena (or stadium) when Cotto comes out against Floyd? Bonkers...

I think you'd be able to hear a collective ****** from BoxingScene even with the volume turned down.

That would be a HUGE event in Puerto Rico.

How do u figure? A fan is SOMEONE who supports thier favorite athlete/team/player/etc. A fanbase is sort of like a movement of the fans that SUPPORT you. How can u dislike a particular athlete, and be considered part of his fanbase? It makes no sense.

If you buy a ppv go to the event just to see him lose your part of his fanbase

You're wrong. I can just be a fan of the sport itself, and not a fan of any particular fighter. I have went to many amature bouts here in NY without even knowing who the fighters were.

                That's Floyd's Fan Base

Way to put spin on something you clearly can't spin...

I watch Floyds fights to see him lose...

There is nothing fan like about it...

A fan supports and backs his choice of team, fighter or whatever...

That doesn't make me a fan of his in any way...

Was I a fan of Hatton when he fought Mayweather? No...

I simply watched in hopes Mayweather would lose...

At no point did I cheer for him...

                Amen...

                The end...

LoL, just got back to this thread. Forgot I posted it, LoL. Um, someone mentioned, so what's a fanbase. I was thinking, a fanbase, are people that want to see you fight, like the way you fight, and have become a fan because of the way you fight. So while I think Floyd has people that are paying to see him lose against his marquee opponent, I think Cotto has actual FANs that like to see him fight because they like him as a fighter.

                    Exactly...

Fans take to a team, person or fighter because they LIKE the individual...

They want to see them do well and suceed at what it is they do...

So me watching a Floyd fight and hoping lightning comes out of the sky and hits him in his mouth doesn't seem very fan like to me...

Sometimes its best to just shut the **** up Horus and take being wrong like a man...

Dude sounded like a lobbyist for a new dictionary for a minute...
