Regardless of Eubank's retirement, the fact is he carried on after the Calzaghe fight (for which he was a late replacement) and Joe was a fairly green fighter with only 22 wins under his belt. It was a huge step up for Joe! Eubank gave Joe the fight of his life, too. Watching the video, it's pretty damn clear he wasn't finished, he was an extremely dangerous fighter who would probably have knocked out plenty of opponents out that night.
You got to be kidding me , age is not a yardstick for when somebody is passed it , your mental outlook how many hard fights and how long you been in the game has more to do with it than age , Chris had two more fights with the same opponet a nobody and got stopped after Joe , his last quality fight was 2 yrs earlier with Collins in which he lost , then he beat 2 duds before Cal ,,, mate Eubanks was a great fighter but he was a shadow of his best when he fought Joe .

Calzaghe was also a shadow of his best, again, with only 22 fights under his belt, it was a huge step up in class. One balances out the other. Eubank had more experience, with more than twice as many fights as Joe. Those losses at the end of his career were to Carl Thompson at cruiserweight. Yes, the same Thompson who KO'd David Haye, yet you call Thompson a nobody? Thompson was dangerous man. It's no wonder Eubank was beaten.

Now I like B-Hop but why does he half to make it a race thing? What does the color of Joe's skin have to do with anything? I like B-Hop and actually dont like Calzaghe at all but why does B-Hop half to bring out the race card? What's messed up is if Calzaghe was to say "I'd never let a black man beat me" then his whole career would be ruined and he would be turned into a big racist. That **** aint right... Makes me want to rethink who I'm pulling for in this fight.

Obviously the media would attempt to destroy the British fighter Joe Calzaghe if he ever made racist statements regarding Bernard Hopkins, and rightly so!

              Hang on, define racist.

People have varying views on whether saying "I'd never lose to a white boy is racist". Ignorance isn't an excuse.

The point I think Sry was trying to make is if Joe said "I'd never lose to a black boy", why should that be any different?

It's a ****** comment. On the other hand, if it was said merely as a way to draw a bigger crowd for this fight, has it worked? Whether or not it was said to hype the fight, I don't agree with making race an issue.

Yea I know, but it's really not on, and I think he's lost credibility over it, and for kicking off at Buncey about being cold.

I've watched the video back, and what shocks me is how many times he says it, white person, and even if he knew it was controversial, he seems to have no recognition it will offend people, and some will determine it racist.

I watched an interview with him trying to justify it, and it made him look worse. He said, you gotta understand we never saw white people in my area, blah blah.

It's not on and I think should have been made of an example of, it would in other scenario's, certainly here in the UK. If something like that was said here it'd be all over the media. We're probs over the top, but I'd rather that, then right it off as fight talk. Not an excuse for racial comments, rarely even heard in boxing.

Works both ways, if Joe woulda made a similar comment I think he would have gotten major **** for it, and from what I've heard Bernard hasn't overly.

Anyway, I think that whole cus you fought in Europe **** is ******.
Hopkins fought in the U.S. all his life what difference does it make?
He should have just said cus you fought mostly nobodys and bums..
that would have been more on point.
