  • -The Good luck to Alfonso Gomez thread-

As much as I love Cotto, I have just as much respect and hope for Gomez.

I hope he does alright, and I respect him a ton. As much as I love Miguel, I wouldn't even be mad if Gomez won some how. It's not like Floyd is gonna fight Cotto if he keeps winning. I mean if anything, if Cotto keeps winning, Floyd will go even further out of his way to avoid Miguel. But thats not even relevant right now.

I love Cotto, he's offically one of my top 3 favorite fighters of all time, not just of right now, but of all time. Gomez has nuts the size and weight of Medicine balls for takin this fight lol. I was lookin at another thread, showed some video of his career and come up, how he liked JCC growin up, put his best into every performance, came out on The Contender and proved his worth as more then just a name off a TV show.

So I wish him luck, I know he'll approach this strong, and I wouldn't be the slightest surprised if he wins. He's come a long way, and I doubt he wants to stop here.

So...Come in here and wish him luck, we got some great fights this Saturday babay!

I do wish luck to gomez.

he IS a nice guy; just as nice as cotto seems to be (from what i can tell)

i'd like to see gomez do well but i rather cotto win.

                why?

not because of gomez...let me make that clear...cotto could be fighting almost ANYONE this saturday and i'd want cotto win...only because he is obviously the front runner to fight mayweather...

and thats what we need is to see mayweather fight quality opponents...

if gomez gets the win then mayweather (after fighting de la hoya) will go on to another payday (just a name...but no top prime fighter).

but i do hope the best for gomez in his career beyond saturday.

gomez should consider it a victory if it goes to the scorecards in my opinion.

he's a nice guy and a good boxer but cotto is definately on a higher level than him.

lol Mayweathers not fightin Cotto, only way Mayweathers gonna actually step up and fight Cotto is if Cotto embarks on a career of punishment for the next 8 years. THEN...Mayweather will stop runnin his bull**** mouth and actually step up.

But yeah, I don't think anyone would be mad if Gomez actually won on saturday. He's a great guy, and more then worthy of the Vicotry.

HaHA.. Well, let me say Cotto has to qualify as one of my favorites. As I've said on occasion; I know more about the guy than most. #1 don't underestimate his ability to get results. Everyone has done that at some point - even his biggest supporters.

Now, even though that is the number one rule, it's important to not overestimate him either, and alot of people here in computerland (mostly on youtube) have been doing that. They talk like Miguel is prime Tyson. He's far from that. He's a very good fighter with a better than good, and better than enthusiastic fanbase. But he isn't Conan The Destroyer. Even Mike Tyson somehow wasn't Conan The Destroyer, not according to this new generation anyway. Ask the right person and they'll tell you that Klitchsko is garbage, or Mayweather is a hype.. Politically, Cotto could win office if Boxing fans were voting. Put it that way.

The odds are also shocking, to be fair to Gomez, who hasn't done anything to make himself the complete longshot that he is despite his lack of experience. He's extremely solid as far as anyone should be able to tell. No reason to think he's going to get completely blown out or destroyed, realistically.

Sometimes it's easy to forget that we base our categorical absolutes on information that is only pooled from 30, 40, or 50 test cases at the very most. In other words; this is Boxing. Thus the term a "fighting chance." That's part of what makes it exciting for us when the unexpected happens.. We're all ****ing ignorant.
