This "gift to the fans" line is ridiculous bull**** even for the Golden Phony. The truth is that Oscar is getting millions of dollars for fighting a handpicked and mismatched opponent. Gift to the fans my ass.

It will be a mistake not to have Linares on the undercard, people are buzzing on the kid and HBO and Delahoya should put him on even if its a showcase fight.

Naturally, Oscar's lofty role has gone to his head. When he lost Mayweather he kept repeating "..I love Boxing.. I love Boxing.." Which really meant; I'm so ****ing huge and gigantic, I staged this fight just to help the sport, not to fulfill my own desires, or fatten my wallet.

If Oscar wanted to do us any favors he would have fought Cotto..

The Fishnet could give a "gift" to a fan like me by fighting 154 lb. fighters, and making Mayweather and Cotto both represent the largest payday for each other.

He and Schaefer actually said that the Mayweather-De La Hoya fight "saved boxing".

Gift to the fans would get Boxing back on Network tv or start making big fights on Versus like the Hatton fight.

the fight it self might have not done it but the promotion for it made people pay attention to boxing and the fights that took place the 2 following months made the save(if it was needed)

Now that would be HOT. I'd consider it a gift too.
