It probably travelled a shorter distance than the famed Phantom-punch Ali threw against Liston in their second fight.

Ottke is a *****, it's not that germany spoils him only, its him!!!. When ever he looks at the ref for reid throwing legal punches, it gets me sick... Ottke is a fraud of a fighter

Most of ottke critics claim hes got some gift decision but quite frankly which fighter doesnt have a controvertial win in his career
They also say he only fought in his native country but most of the american champions never leave their country aswellSven Ottke its a true legend of the sport and he proved he couldnt be koed by anyone in his time
his skills are comparable to calderon guzman and even mayweather
he is a true victim of the media and ignorant fans

BTW maybe a lot of his decision wins was controversial but when the decision is controversial always remember to ask yourself if you could see the winner win the fight. There was always a case to be made for Ottke.
Not in the Reid fight, that was a true robbery with even the referee complicit an absolute disgrace. Ottke is best understood if you look at the politics of the time. The East germans saw their football (Soccer) team effectively disappear, their atheletes were exposed almost to a man as drug cheats (check out Maritia Koch's time for the 400m, 30years of cheats since haven't beaten it) they had one hero left, a boxer with 200+ wins as an amatuer. Sporting heros can keep people's minds off of the daily grind of life, help the newly intergrated East Germans not feel like the second class citizens they effectively were. It was in everyone's interest to keep him there, an above average fighter no doubt, but worthy of the record he retired with no.

It is very true everyone gets some hometown decisions (especially when you only fight at home) but some of Ottke's were a disgrace, with the Reid fight the most rotten of the bunch.

Its not all bad though, he did knock out Mundine, one of the funniest moments in boxing. If I were Mundine I would prefer to be photographed ****ing a kangaroo than being one of mighty Sven's six ko's

Ive never seen highlights of the reid-ottke fight iv always just heard about it, after watching it I finally understand. That was disgusting, and some people thought joe cortez was bad, I don't know how reid didn't totally lose his cool
