While he would lose the speed and agility advantage he had in the heavyweight ranks, he will gain that back in the power department. I never really felt like he fit in with the other heavyweights. Perhaps he'll do better at Light Heavy. Although if he loses at 175, it may be time hang em' up. He's probably got a good pile of money to retire on.

looks like he fought his first two fights around lt heavy then moved up to cruiser than fought as a small heavy for the rest of his career.

Asian you really think a 40 year old Byrd can move over 35 lbs south of the border and be successful? He'd probably have to get a spot on the Biggest Loser just to make weight!

I dont see him being succesful. His speed and reflexes are already deteriating. At 175 he wont have the same advantages either, and I doubt his power will increase that much.

Byrd walked out of the gym last week weighing 180 pounds according to a report I read.

I notice a lot of people thought Byrd would run the division. Maybe he just ran into the wrong guy.

It's interesting to see threads like this because of how much perception changes.

                Where is Chris Byrd?

Perceptions change once a guy gets beat, then every excuse from he was shot to he was weight-drained come into play. I hear Byrd is coming back but not sure when or against who.

I heard his next fight will be at welterweight.

A big part of the problem was that he couldnt handle the speed of that opponent, he's used to fighting at hw against much slower guys.
