Corley was going to get stopped sooner or later, he was in for more punishment if he went on but the stoppage was very premature.

Seriously though, Corley was battered for 95% of the fight. He just landed one hell of a punch that had Cotto reeling all round and seriously hurt. That punch aside, it was a one sided ass whooping.

I dont think anybody is really dis*****g that. The problem is, you claim it was a robbery. How do u figure? Early stoppage, and Robbery are two different things. I can understand if Corley was winning, and then they stopped it early. That would be a early stoppage/robbery. He wasnt though. Cotto was taxing that ass prior to that stoppage. Corley had one good moment in that fight, and that was when he rocked Cotto. After that it was all Cotto.

Yeah Merch went a little over board. I saw it more as a **** up by the ref. Not a, "hey I'm going to help out the home town fighter." type thing. I remember watching it live and even feeling kind of bad for Corley, but he was getting battered and you could see him wearing down.

Btw...the ref was horrible on both sides. Cotto got deducted a point too if I'm not mistaken, and Corley was the first guy to hit after the break.

I wish the referee wouldn't have stopped it, so we could have seen Corley get his ass knocked out. Corley should have thanked the referee, he helped him save face on what would've been a devastating ko or no mas from Corley.
