Malignaggi Talks About Hatton and Rematch with N'dou

IBF Jr welterweight world champion Paulie Malignaggi will defend his title in a rematch against former world champ, Lovemore N'dou. Malignaggi took N'dou's title back in June of 2007. This fight will take place in Manchester England on May 24th, as part of the Ricky Hatton vs Juan Lazcano card. This fight will be televised live in The United States on Versus! The Magic Man sat down with ********** and gave us his thoughts.

BT – What's up Champ? You're giving N'dou a rematch, talk about that.

PM – N'dou is getting a moral clause rematch. He doesn't deserve one, but I'm going to give him one because I need a warm up fight for Ricky Hatton. So I will slap him around again, gladly, because he's talking a lot of **** again. As usual he's got a big mouth, and he always has to complain about things. The newest complaint now is that he had the flu. I got some medicine for him in my fist.

BT – this will take place in England, a nice opportunity to fire a shot across Ricky Hatton's bow?

PM – Yes, of course. Listen I plan to fight Ricky in the fall. I am going to concentrate on N'dou though, I am not going to overlook him. I am going to thoroughly enjoy every ass whooping punch that I will deliver to him. I don't like the guy, he's always talking. He's talking about the referee, he's talking about the flu, talking about this, and that. When I lost to Cotto, I manned up, there were no excuses. This guy got his ass whooped every second of every round, and he complains? I look forward to beating the **** out of him again.

BT – Would you get more satisfaction knocking him out, or beating him up for 12 rounds?

PM – You know, I got to say this, he's got a good chin. I will say that much about the guy. Nobody has ever knocked him out. If I don't knock him out, I won't be disappointed, but if I do, that would be great. I would love to knock him out on national television in front of all of those English fans.

BT – So will this fight will be televised in the states?

PM – The fight will be televised on Versus for free. It's a free treat for the fans here in the United States. They get a nice double header with my fight, and Ricky Hatton vs Juan Lazcano. It's nice, it's on a Saturday afternoon here because it's live in England.

BT – Are you excited about the opportunity to fight in England in front of the English fans. The British boxing fans like to have a lot of fun when they go to see the fights.

PM – Yes, and for them to get a chance to see what I bring to the table is nice. I am the Magic Man, so I bring a magic show with me. I am going to have to whip their boys ass in the fall, but in the meantime they will get a treat to see Paulie Malignaggi live. Of course they get to see their guy Ricky Hatton as well.

BT – Do you anticipate getting approached in England by a lot of their fans?

PM – Yes, I mean listen a boxing fan is a boxing fan you know? Even the Puerto Rican fans when I was fighting Cotto asked for a picture or an autograph, that's just part of being a fan. I am excited about fighting on such a big event, a big arena, it's great.

BT – Paulie, you can't help yourself sometimes. You enjoy not only fighting, but also putting on a show. I am guessing that in front of so many people in an arena in England, you're not going to be able to help yourself.

PM – Of course, I get goose bumps just thinking about it. I thrive in front of the spotlight like that. The crowd is going to be wild, and listen they are exciting fans, they sing, they yell, the whole nine. Somebody like me who specializes in entertaining, I get excited just thinking about it.

BT – So the fight is on May 24th, I am guessing your camp is in full swing, no?

PM – Yes, I am already training in New York, and I leave in a couple days to go to Florida. Like I said, it's exciting. It's going to be even more pleasurable to beat the **** out of N'dou again, because again, this guy has been talking a lot of ****. I can't wait to beat the **** out of him all over again.

BT – Of course, another convincing win over N'dou in Ricky Hatton's backyard does nothing but good things to hype up a Ricky Hatton vs Paulie Malignaggi fight in the fall.

PM – Exactly, because Ricky is a pressure guy, and so is N'dou. You bring out the best in me, and I will bring out the best in you, and we'll see what happens. This will be a nice way to get ready for Ricky Hatton vs Paulie Malignaggi.

BT – Do you have any outside of the ring projects going on?

PM – No, nothing really. Not right now, I mean I got offered a couple of movie scripts, but right now I am totally focused on my boxing career. I don't want to get caught up on other things right now.

BT – Do you have any closing thoughts for your fans?

PM – I want to thank all of my fans for their love and support. I think I got the best fans in the world. Get ready for the Magic Man show! Tune in to Versus and watch a great show on May 24th!
At least we know where it'll be televised in the US. I'm surprised HBO isn't going to televise it. Hatton vs Malignaggi should be a good fight.

Hatton could beat him, no doubt... Hatton is a vicious body puncher, I don't know how Malignaggi would take those shots, but aim for his chin and you can't stop him. That kid has got an iron chin!! but Malignaggi can dance around him and jab him all night, I doubt it'll keep Hatton off him .. But I still think my boy can pull it off.

lol Paulie is my boy too, gotta love that eyebrow plucking-soft handed-guido I don't know, I just like the guy, he's a hell of a boxer but unfortunately he hits like a lady, but the dude really earned my respect after the Cotto fight. After taking such a bloody beating all night and stand toe-to-toe with Cotto is OK in my book. As far as him and Hatton, I think he could give Hatton some problems but I think Hatton could wear Paulie down with the body shots. If Hatton were to get cut, and Paulie can just jab that cut all night then maybe he could win by stoppage, good fight regardless of the outcome.

Lets be serious folks. Hatton's gonna walk through those punches. He'll get a little roughed up early, By the later rounds Malinaggi will have taken too much punishment. The wrestling act he put on Cotto won't work this time and Hatton will abuse Malinaggi inside. Hatton by stoppage or wide wide UD IMO
