Wow, this really makes the Mosley-Judah fight bigger. I mean, both guys are going to hear Quintana calling them out through the g**** vine. Both Shane and Zab have recently suffered a loss to Cotto- so the fight was already a crucial win to come off their defeat. Now they know that, if they win, they get another shot at being champion. That must mean a huge amount to an aging Mosley, and offer a shot at redemption for Judah. This really raises the stakes.
Quintana: "I Want The Mosley-Judah Winner"

Quintana is the champion so should get paid the bigger purse. Williams doesnt even deserve the freaking 900 he got. He sucks.Comment

This would be a good payday fight for him but Id rather see him fight someone more relevant, still he earned the right to get a good paying fight and deserves it.Comment

I think it's fairly obvious that Quintana wants a payday and doesn't really care how difficult the fight is. He isn't going to get one with Paul Williams and would rather fight Mosley or Judah, even if there's a solid chance he loses.
Who's more relevant/credible at welterweight than Shane Mosley? The loser of Cintron/Margarito II falls of the face of the Earth and he isn't going to get the winner because that guy will probably be fighting Cotto in the summer. And we knew Mayweather only likes to fight guys he's beaten before, so Shane Mosley would be his best option. This would be a good payday fight for him but Id rather see him fight someone more relevant, still he earned the right to get a good paying fight and deserves it.Last edited by WHB3; 04-05-2008, 10:42 AM.Comment

I have a strange feeling that should Shane beat Zab he'll retire. I don't know why. Just do. Concentrate on promoting.
Either way, Quintana's a tough opponent for either guy. If Zab wins I think he starts making a lot of noise again in the division, probably chase the Cotto rematch which he won't get, Mayweather rematch which he also won't get, and wind up having to fight someone like Quintana, Williams, Cintron, which are all tough fights.
I just hope Floyd Snr has a positive effect on Zab and we see him maximize his talent for once.Comment

I'm with you, I'm confident this fight will be made, they're still negotiating. How much is Williams getting? From what I understood, Williams got $900,000 for the first fight and Quintana got $250,000. I'm not going to be convinced that there's less that $1 mil in the pot. Can't they agree to split $1 mil down the middle? Does Williams really deserve more than $500,000 for the rematch if he made $900,000 for the first fight? Come on Goosen get this fight done. Stop low balling Quintana.Comment
