WBO welterweight champion Carlos Quintana is still very far apart from reaching a deal for a rematch with Paul Williams, slated for a Showtime televised date of June 7. Quintana says that Goossen-Tutor, who promote Williams, have made an offer that barely reaches $300,000. [details]

And more power to him if they are trying to short change him. I'll admit I thought Williams was going to demolish his ass, but since he didn't he needs to pay. I don't blame him go for the biggest money and make the most out of the situation, and I have to admit it can't get much better then the situation he's in right now. -

If Quintana beats Williams again him against the Mosley-Judah winner would be a logical fight for both sides, especially if it's Judah. Cotto is probably not going to come near Quintana or Judah. Mosley might bring enough money to merit the risk of the fight. So, a Quintana-Mosley/Judah fight would put one guy in the running for fighter of the year. Get a fighter of the year award under your belt and you may be in the running for the Hatton/DLH/Mayweather sweepstakes.Comment

How much is Williams getting? From what I understood, Williams got $900,000 for the first fight and Quintana got $250,000. I'm not going to be convinced that there's less that $1 mil in the pot. Can't they agree to split $1 mil down the middle? Does Williams really deserve more than $500,000 for the rematch if he made $900,000 for the first fight? Come on Goosen get this fight done. Stop low balling Quintana.Comment

Why does he deserve a rematch? Because he was a long standing champion who lost due to a fluke? He lost his first defence and was found to be extrememly ordinary. Quintana put him in his place and Williams needs to prove he's worthy of a rematch. Margarito didn't get one, Williams shouldn't either.Comment
